Alpha and Omega

Okay, my fellow animation fans, why do these wolves look so familiar?

Photobucket

Every time I see the trailer, it annoys me because I KNOW I've seen very similar looks before, probably on a dog characters but I can't recall a specific example. Here's the trailer if you want to see them better.

I can't tell you why they look familiar, but I do know the character models are really awkward. These poor guys don't even have a lower jaw! D8

But now it's bugging me too. The female wolf does look kind of familiar. o_O

I dunno, but I sort of hate how they have "hair."

Yes! It's the girl in particular! I don't know if it's the way she acts or the way she looks or some combination or her coloring just reminds me of Angel from Lady and the Tramp 2?

But I don't think that's it either.

I hated that at first until I remembered that Disney did the same thing with Rita and Georgette although it looked more natural with them.

The only other animated movie about talking wolves that I can remember seeing as a kid was Balto. They might look a little like those characters. I'm not sure though because it's been years since I saw that movie.

Yeah, Angel from Lady and the Tramp 2 had a better character design, and believable anatomy for one thing.
Augh, now it's going to bug me.

I don't think that's it. The wolf and dog designs in Balto look better and much different.

Hmm, I never saw Balto all the way through, that's why I'm thinking it might be a dog or maybe even Fox character I'm thinking of...

Hmm.. the top two really do remind me of Lady & the Tramp.
The one bottom right looks like an animated version of the actor Timothy Spall.

This is not at all helpful, I know.

I know nothing about animation but they kind of look... unfinished.

The female Alpha reminds a bit of young Nala in The Lion King.

But I've never watched any of the Baltos.

I saw the trailer for that and it looked really weird, frankly.
