I think that was the point of Will Ferrell's character, that he was supposed to be unliked and pave the way for Dwight like on the original.
Yeah, I know your right. I just kept waiting for him to do something funny and it never happened. I felt "laugh teased". ;) Especially, after the Beastie Boys video, which also had Rainn Wilson and Will Arnett (and every comedian in Hollywood, as well, just like the new boss interviews.)
However, unlike Gareth, Dwight's reign was short-lived and probably more believable.
I totally agree. Dwight's reign was definitely more believe-able and kind of sad how it went down. I felt bad for Dwight. He was actually an effectual boss(ie he got the job done despite no one liking him or his policies) but he let his ego/fantasy life get the better of him. I really liked how they handled his exchange with Jo at the end.
