I love 'intelligent' sci-fi. The Matrix didn't so much mentally wake me up as slap me across the face and turn my life on it's head. I'm still learning new things when I watch that film and I utterly love that.
I do like the fun stuff too. Sci-fi still has some damn good adventures for the sake of of a good rollicking adventure in space.
I can't read Dick. He's far too depressing for me even though I loved Blade Runner, the book was so depressing and A Scanner Darkly was even worse. I've not seen the film. I can't bring myself to watch it.
