As for the fandom thing, how about a con? You're in Florida, right? Well, there's Dragoncon, New York Comic Con, and Chicago TARDIS. Those are all on that general side of the country. Or if you want to be really exciting, you could come out west to Gallifrey, Wondercon, or Comic Con! :D
