Comics at Barnes & Noble

Hawkeye

It's weird, I did totally ship Hawkeye/Hawkeye and now I'm kind of...he'll screw it up somehow and I'd hate for Kate to get hurt even though she totally knows that's what the outcome would be...

Spider-Man

I can't remember which one but it has this weird cover with Fury, Romanov and Barton all making up one person...yeah, weird...anyway...

Me: Because I usually don't read Spider-Man lately because the plot is stupid and weird but the internet told me it had Coulson, Black Widow and Hawkeye. See it's stupid because Doc Ock's in Spider-Man's body and Peter Parker isn't and nobody knows about it.

My Mom: Nobody knows about it??

Me: Right, but I think Coulson thinks something is up because he yelled at Fury for bringing Spider-man on the Helicarrier which was weird, too. I don't get how the relationships are compared with the movies, like it's weird to have Coulson yelling at Fury.

My Mom: Coulson yelling at anyone.

Me: True.

Wolverine

I can't remember which Wolverine series but it has Wolverine and Nick Fury on the cover. Inside, Nick had a flying car and I'm just...
Please have Lola fly at some point...

So, they were having a "Father's Day" sale with Wallander, MI5/Spooks, Case Histories and Luther.

I'm like...where is this dad and how can I meet him?

Unless he's still married to your mom...

Oliver & Company on BluRay!!!!

I'm so excited!!!!!

Oliver & Company is coming out August 6!

25th Anniversary
TWO DISC
BLU-RAY!!!!!

YAY!!!!

What you don't understand is that from age five until age age ten when Jurassic Park came out, Oliver & Company was my favorite movie EVER. It was still my favorite Disney film until I was eleven and The Lion King came out.

It's quintessentially Eighties but with all those things that we would come to associate with the second great age of Disney animation aka under Katzenberg era...

Celebrity voices?
Bette Midler
Billy Joel
Cheech Marin
Dom DeLuise
Richard Mulligan
and an EXTREMELY young Joey Lawrence.

Music done by those easily found in the Pop Top 40 lists?
Barry Manilow writes one of the songs and Huey Lewis, Billy Joel, Bette Midler and Ruth Pointer do the singing...

CGI?
1988, but yeah, the epic boss car chase uses a lot of CGI.

People always say the second golden age started with The Little Mermaid but to me, it started the year before.

The funny thing is that many of the things I love about it and what became standard in animated films later are what Siskel and Ebert argue over in this clip, including celebrity voices, complicated plots, whether orphans are too downer for children's stories, etc.

Okay, have something twisted...it's the song "Thrift Shop" using clips from the film and really well done:

This is one of my songs and parts from the film:

Wizards Vs. Aliens on The Hub

So, I love The Hub. Between Fraggle Rock, Animaniacs, and Doogie Howser, MD, it's basically like my college project of designing the best television channel ever come to life. Plus, it has The Super Hero Squad Show which will remain my favorite super hero show until Agents of SHIELD premieres.

Today, it premieres two new shows:

SheZow

I know, teenage boy fights pirates and aliens and things...big deal. Here's where it gets cool...he fights crime because of a ring that turns him into a FEMALE superhero! Yes, he fights crime as a woman complete with heels, make-up and the long hair and by the end of the first episode, he was already embracing his new role. It's not quite having a transgender superhero for children's television but it is a lot closer than we were or what I ever expected.

Wizards vs Aliens Every Saturday from 7-8 PM EST.

I had expected having to either give up and buy it like with The Sarah Jane Adventures or having it show up next Christmas on Syfy like with K9. However, the Hub got it, woo!

I've had my problems with Russell T. Davies, I was ready for him to leave Doctor Who. However, the man does excel at children's television so I'm excited.

Plus, it's on The Hub, how appropriate is that? Even if Davies did blow up the actual Hub and kill Ianto and...nope, not going there.

Woo, new shows!

Steven Moffat and Misogny

I realize people have opinions rather than ideas and opinions tend to be immovable blocks of stone. Ideas can change.

This is one of the most awesome succinct essays on Steven Moffatt's use of fairy tales and gender roles I've ever seen:

F-List Cut and Merlin and...

Every year, I go through every single Friend and Community and decide whether to cut them. Usually, if we're mutual friends, I leave them alone.

This year, I got a little ruthless. I cut 380 people and communities. Most of them were people who hadn't posted in years. They were people I met in college or through Pirates of the Caribbean or Torchwood and now they're not around anymore.

I still feel kind of bad about it.

Maybe I was a little too ruthless. I deleted anything that LJ said hadn't done anything in 2013 according to their profile page.

If you can no longer access my locked entries and you want to, comment and I will add you back, sorry.

I also want to say to be careful about what you put on your Profile page. You can put your AIM and things but you don't have to. If you DO, do NOT be surprised when people Message you. Some people are cool and some people act like I broke into their house. When you put your stuff on your profile, that's basically like giving your home address to the guy who just tried to kill your bodyguard, ANYONE CAN USE IT.

As I was doing the cut last night, I was watching Merlin. I was half-paying attention to both tasks when my mom asked, "Is that what they look like in real life?" It happened to be a header of Colin Morgan and Bradley James.

I have to say as I watched, it began to resemble a Russell T. Davies script. This character dies and this character dies and this plotline is resolved hastily and that plotline is resolved hastily but by the end, I did like the inclusion of The Once and Future King.

My Mom: Well, did they all live happily ever after or did they all die?
Me: They all died...well...Gwen did become queen and Merlin lived forever. They showed him and he was old Merlin with the beard and everything. Then, a car passed him.

My mom smiled and laughed. I think she approved.

I'm trying to ignore the Doctor Who news. If I ignore it, then it doesn't exist and there's no reason for me to be crying...although the crying is a good distraction from the flash flood forming in the yard or the water coming in from the patio doors...
