I realize people have opinions rather than ideas and opinions tend to be immovable blocks of stone. Ideas can change.

This is one of the most awesome succinct essays on Steven Moffatt's use of fairy tales and gender roles I've ever seen:

That's a lot of things, but I wouldn't say "succinct" is one of them. By the author's own admittance she gets caught up in ranting about people moving the goal posts on Amy. Since I haven't watched much of Moff's tenure I can't say much about her analysis of it. I will say that she seems to clearly admit that Moff's forcing River Song into the family was badly done.

The writer is a very thoughtful person and I can understand her confusion as to why, after Seasons 1-4 fans are just now crying "sexist". Many times with Moffat, fans are reacting to something he has said in public, always off the cuff, and always according to him, not starting with that statement about the Doctor dumping a Needy Girlfriend, (Rose) in an alternate universe, move own to the bit the kind of female companion, and his statements about women only wanting marriage and kids while men want agency to -"live-- I guess.

That is a succinct essay, and very precise.
