Clarissa

If you ever get the urge to read Clarissa, or, the History of a Young Lady by Samuel Richardson...

Don't.

There are a lot of bad books out there. I take it this was one of them.

I remember starting this one, but never finishing. Am I remembering correctly - its looonnnng, boring and Clarissa is such a special snowflake that she makes you want to gag.

Over 1500 pages! Wiki says it's the longest English book ever published.

I did it though through the power of skimming and Merlin on the tv, lol.

Mom bought it because she was so intrigued by the size and then, she ended up almost giving up on it and skimming which made me more intrigued because my mom doesn't take that option lightly so I knew it had to be pretty bad.

I've seen the TV adaptation with Sean Bean, which was bad enough. Having seen that, I wouldn't touch the book with a ten foot pole.
