Torchwood: Children of Earth

Even thought we were promised a "global premiere," it turns out that they only meant Britain and Australia. Americans, Canadians and all others need not apply.

*glares at BBC*

So, my dear Friends List, I have a HUGE favor to ask. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put all important plot points for episodes four and five under a spoiler cut in your entries. I really want to be unspoiled this time...or at the very least, if I don't know what's to come, I'm hoping I won't be so anxious to watch it illegally on a cramped computer screen or my iPod.

Also, to the BBC again, if you plan on killing anyone else off, Children of Earth had better be at least as good as season two if not better because you know about Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End? It killed off several of my favorite characters, including my most favorite POTC character ever? Plus, it was a horrible movie in story and editing.

Do you know how many times I've seen AWE in its entirety since June 2007?

None

I'm so out of touch with TV here. When is Torchwood supposed to air in the UK?

Thanks darling, I knew you'd know!

I'm lazy and wait for box sets. :D

As for AWE... as AWEful as it is, it's got great costuming potential. And the angst. I feel the angst. Espeically since I'm separated from my husband most of the time. (And interestingly, when AWE came out, he was just over 10 years until retirement. Interesting coincidence.)

It does have great costumes especially Beckett's. I love his blue and green number. I will watch like five to fifteen minutes at a time until something happens that's completely asinine and I get upset all over again.

Would it have killed them to be more obvious that she's upset by James' death?

The angst is kind of fun, but only for me when tempered with happiness, like they have to be separated for ten years but Terry said she's try and cheat when she could...and that she's waiting for him so they get to spend the rest of their lives together. I suppose I got a little too involved and it was the arguing that also killed it because some people prefer the maximum angst of they only get to see each other every ten years until she dies...and that's just mean. Even Penelope didn't have to put up with that.

Someone once said that I was also ruined by reading all the scripts and knowing what was changed...and they probably had a point there, too.

I'm sorry to hear you still have eight years. It's a very tough thing you and the rest of the spouses do. (hugs)

I hope that someday, premiering stuff worldwide at about the same time will the rule, rather than the exception. I also hope that someday Doctor Who will be broadcast on US network television, rather than being hidden away on cable/satellite channels. One can dream, right?

Side note: I don't even watch Torchwood, and I'm kind of interested in "Children of Earth." It looks exciting.

*hugs* Hey, I liked AWE, and I think I've only watched it once all the way through since the DVD came out. There's a lot of things about it that are depressing but the costumes and music are pretty. Fortunately, I discovered the Doctor last year, and that provides a nice distraction. :D

Actually, Dr Who WAS on a network channel. I may have only about thirteen and a half, but I remember because it was very cool: this guy can travel through time and space in this deceiving blue box with an awesome inside (it was Victorian then), he's cool and they had that lovely twist concerning his mom. It was like those weird shows on PBS with horrible production values except way, way cooler.

Fox was planning on making it into a series. Unfortunately, my household appears to have been the only one that watched.

You should totally watch Torchwood. Don't let first season scare you off. I mean, I immediately said "I love this show" when they alluded to canon MPREG in the first five minutes of the pilot, but it was very disjointed. It actually makes MORE sense after seeing season two. So, it's best to get through season one, watch season two and then rewatch season one.

I do love the Doctor, I do, but I also like how grounded Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures are. They can't just leave and go off on adventures for months on end. They have responsibilities.

But I suppose if you just wanted to see CoE, then it is written that way as well.

The costumes and music were some of the good things about AWE, I will give you that. It's just not enough to make me sit through it all. When CotBP came out, I loved Jack Sparrow and AWE managed to accomplish something quite special...I got sick of Jack Sparrow.

CotBP is still my favorite out of all of them.I like AWE, but, aye, AWE had problems. I've the sequels watched a few times, but not as obsessively as CotBP. The crunch in which they had to make the films definitely affected them. Lots of lovely moments, potential, and eye candy, but I was probably spoiled by the what ifs, too.

Swann and Norrington? *sniff*

As I said before, Ericadawn and Random have made me love James even more since CotBP.

Torchwood- Season Two: WHY? I loved those guys.

Children of Earth-They mentioned The Doctor!?Yay. It's not premiering here at the same time and I don't have BBC America? Nay. Me no likey.

"I hope that someday, premiering stuff worldwide at about the same time will the rule, rather than the exception."

YES! Random, I agree.
