McDonalds is Sexist Again

Currently, the McDonalds Happy meal toys are Victorious for girls and spy toys for boys.

SPY TOYS FOR BOYS!

WTF?

Have you never heard of Harriet the Spy? Hermione Granger? Natasha Romanoff? Betty J. Sapp?

GIRLS LIKE SPY STUFF, TOO! YOU SEXIST MORONS!

You're sort of right and sort of wrong. Maybe there are lots of boys who like Victorious. Perhaps boys would like Victorious toys, but they're stuck with generic spy toys. :p

1. Victoroius Rockin music player

2. Victoroius Microphone Styling Brush

3. Victoroius Sweet Sounds Necklace

4. Victoroius Friendship Fashion Rings

5. Victoroius Fashion Hair Barrette

6. Victoroius Totally Tori Tote

7. Victoroius Make it Shine Compact

8. Victoroius Friendship Fashion Bracelets

I concede that it could be possible and boys do also enjoy bracelets but really, I'd rather they not be handing out these kind of "toys" at all and stick with actual toys.

I don't mean that the toys were necessarily appropriate for the gender. But I don't see why they couldn't have made the Victorious toys geared for everyone. I don't find it to be a particularly girly show, even though Tori is the main character.

While making the distinction between the toy types by gender is dumb, I'm not sure what would be better. I mean I always ask for the "boy" toy, and like surreal_44 said I bet there are boys that ask for the "girl" toy. Course the computer for my local McDonald's calls the toys the "truck" toy, and the "doll" toy regardless of what kind of "boy" toy and "girl" toy they actually are. 8)

I think that must be from the old days where boy/girl toys were reserved for once or twice a year and were always Hot Wheels or Barbie/other girl Mattel toy.

Then, Disney stopped doing toy promotions and restaurants seemed to forget that you can make toys for BOTH genders! The better solution is to make unisex toys that everyone likes and only do the boy/girl thing once or twice a year like the old days, NOT EVERY FREAKING MONTH!

Girls like Star Wars! Girls like spy toys!
Boys like stuffed animals! Boys like music!

It has now been so indoctrinated into parents that when I worked at a Whataburger, the parents would automatically ask for this many boys toys and this many girls toys WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING WHAT THE TOYS WERE!

It really pissed me off.

Request a boy toy. :p

I know at Burger King they have Pink stuff (crowns and dolls with hair brushes) and the boys have monster trucks. I'd go for the monster truck, just because I think it would be more entertaining than a doll or a crown that sits there and does nothing.

Don't forget Penny from Inspector Gadget, too!

Not to mention, you know, Mata Hari, Tokyo Rose, etc. etc. Sigh.
