My Favorite Movies of 2013

Movies have to be seen in a theatre setting between 12:01 AM on January 1, 2013 and 11:59 PM on December 31, 2013. They can't have been on a previous list. Thus, Monsters, Inc was ineligible. The ranking of films is a combination of the filmmaking prowess shown, how much I personally liked it and how much I would like to see it again.

Those are good movies - I think I should write up a list like these as well.

I feel like the makers of Sea of Monsters were actively TRYING to kill off the PJO/HoO movie line. I'm all for ageing up the characters but this was just BAD. Bad acting, horrible dialog, and writing themselves into a corner. And The Titan's Curse could have been so good. Lena Heady as Artemis, Sybill what's her face who played Shae as Zoe Nightshade (like I said I'm all for making the films more adult), scrap that stupid "archaic" diction of hers that wouldn't even have been grammatical during the Renaissance and Riordan KNOWS it. But alas.

Thor, The Dark World and The Hunger Games. I have not seen "Ender's Game" yet, but want to when it comes out on DVD. We can't afford to go to the theater much so most of the movies you listed I have not heard of. Superman was out last summer I think and it wasn't bad. Loved Russell Crow!

Rush was such a good surprise! I expected nothing from it because I don't like Formula 1 and I'm not a Hemsworth/Brühl/Howard fan but it's my favorite movie of 2013!

I hope to watch 12 years a slave soon. The movie was released only this month where I live.

Rush was surprisingly brilliant. I am a huge F1 fan, but my expectations were low. And it turned out to be a brilliant movie. I hadn't realised James Hunt died so young.
