Loki's motivations/feelings

I've seen two very interesting writings on Loki and his motivations and feelings...

http://maskofreason.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/very-good-writing-why-loki-won-in-the-avengers/

At first, they could seem to be contradictory but I think the "truth" if we ever get anything like that is something in between.

Already saw the first one and it blew my mind. Don't think it takes the influence of the sceptre into account though (if that thing could almost create civil war amongst the Avengers, imagine what it did to poor Loki's brain). I definitely agree with the second one, he wakes up for an instant and is absolutely terrified by what's happened.

Wow, I'd never really thought of it that way...

So, I paid extra close attention yesterday to the sceptre and Loki's actions and especially...

Thor's fight is probably the closest he comes to being concussed before the Hulk smashing. Then, we don't really get much Loki after that...which makes me that much more intrigued for Thor 2...which is still 17 months AWAY!

Exactly. Being beaten by the Hulk isn't just a thematic necessity and audience catharsis - it's the only thing which can snap Loki out of the hold that the Chitauri have over him.

And that's why Joss is so brilliant.

I haven't seen the first one before, but I could see Loki doing something to get taken back to Asgard. I mean he even had to work with Thor just to get taken back there. OMG, I didn't notice the Infinity Gauntlet there. That is kind of scary. But I could've sworn Loki' scepter had the mind gem in it which means the gauntlet should not be complete. I think that's part of why he became so crazed.

I like the second one's interpretation. I think it at that moment Loki realizes he has been used by the scepter and the Chitauri, not the other way around. He sees that he was used to do things he never intended to and it horrifies him. That's why he then stabs Thor and renews his attack, he wants someone to strike him down on some level for what he has done. At least that is my theory.

If the scepter had the mind gem, that would explain a lot but it looked just like the Tesseract in gem form to me and the gauntlet had all the gems...

Interesting, I know it's hard for some to believe but he basically has like the lowest self esteem ever thanks to Odin and just sort of expects being trampled on...it doesn't help that Sleipnir was in Thor so that's canon now...poor thing...
