Spoilery Thoughts on Fringe

Well, it certainly appears from that "father" line said to Peter that the baby stuff must be true. I know a lot of people were like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" but I was always sort of intrigued. I like when fictional people have babies and I don't remember ever seeing Joshua Jackson as a father before in his roles except for that one "pregnancy scare" episode of Dawson's Creek and that doesn't really count.

Yes, Joshua Jackson was one of the reasons I started watching Fringe.

Anyway, I'm interested how it would affect his new closeness with Olivia. She's just beginning to accept things between them and admit how much she cares about him. What will she think about Fauxlivia's pregnancy? Especially since she now thinks of them as almost the same person? How will joint custody even work when you live in two different universes? How will this change the relationship between Walter and Peter? What will Walter think?

Now, all of these are intriguing questions and possibilities, but here is what I think may be the point to the baby story:
Walter said every relationship is reciprocal. We take something from the other person and they take something of us. It's how he tried to explain the machine turning Peter into a soldier.

So, what would happen when he holds his own son for the first time? Would it be like the Nanogenes recognizing the parental bond between Nancy and Jamie on Doctor Who? I think it will and I think that's how Peter gets saved.

I know it could be a girl and that would also be cute, but it feels like from a story perspective, they'd choose boy because of the father/son history between Peter and Walter and how that could affect his own son.

Baby? I must have dozed on that one. I have last Fridays recorded so maybe I should watch it again. Now, that would be interesting to throw a baby into the mix with Olivia, Fauxliva, and Peter. I'm more concerned with the violence now in Peter being brought to the surface. I've read that there is some complaints that Peter is too complacient and the character needed more forwardness. I like the character of Peter and Fringe in one of my favorite series.

It was the episode from the Friday before that. The one guy distracted Peter by saying, "It must be hard being a father." Peter was all WUT? and then, they shot him.

Yeah, I always liked Peter's calmness. Actually, Pacey was the same way. There had to be certain circumstances before he'd snap. He was more of a wise ass though.

Oh my--you were right. There is a Peter/Fauxlivia litle bundle on the way. This does not bode well for Peter/Olivia's relationship. Will Peter find out about the pregnancy, how does he find out and will this cause him to want to go to "the other side"? It sure didn't take long for Fauxlivia's boyfriend to do the math as far as dates go.

Yeah, although I kind of want Peter to be with the Fauxlivia now since she really loves him and real Olivia still seems distant.

It's going to be interesting though. Obviously, Peter could be tempted to take the baby to this universe as Walter did and that would be extremely ironic after all the anger he's shown because of that.

Or Fauxlivia could die which takes her out of the equation entirely but would still leave the quandary of which universe to raise his son in...

I can't wait for Peter to find out. I doubt it'll take long now that multiple people on this side know.

However, the Walter from that side reminds me of how much I used to find our Walter creepy especially when he visited Fauxlivia at her place. I practically expected him to secretly be a Nostrovite.
