So, I saw Frozen...

This is my sort of professional review:

We've all seen it at this point, right?

So, I hadn't been paying keen attention like I have with some films in the past. On one hand, I wanted to be surprised and on the other hand...the trailers made it look insanely stupid. I haven't read "The Snow Queen" in probably twenty years or so.

Thus, I didn't know it was about sisters until I happened to see a picture book at Publix and skimmed through it. Yes, it revealed the twist ending which left me more intrigued.

First of all, I love that they're making new Mickey Mouse cartoons although 1920s sensibilities with cartoons might have to be explained to more modern viewers.

When Frozen started, I realized we had a story taking place in Norwayish about two siblings; both heirs to the throne. One was skilled with magic which caused them to feel ostracized while the other longed for their sibling relationship to be how it used to be before their sibling felt so different...

OH MY GOSH, Did you just gender-switch Loki and Thor??? Because I am TOTALLY OKAY WITH THAT!

As with Odin, Elsa and Anna's parents have A+ parenting skills. They acknowledge that she was born that way but did they give her lessons? Did they bring in a tutor to help her?

Nope, lets' just tell a frightened girl to do better, lock her away in her room and tell she has to lie to her sister. Awesome parenting there...

Was Kristoff JUST orphaned? Had he been sold/cajoled into being with the ice guys? Was it a Hansel & Gretal thing where he knew he wasn't wanted anymore?

Gee, Duke sounds familiar...Alan Tudyk! As much as I love Alan Tudyk, I kind of hoping next November won't find him voicing the villain in the newest Disney film. Two years in a row seems a little excessive.

Yay, like Enchanted, you point out how stupid it is to believe in Love at First Sight and then, like Enchanted, you prove how we should believe in it anyway...

(sigh)

Of course, when Elsa was carefully putting on her gloves that made me think of Rogue. Although when she's outed and sings about her new freedom...I had to wonder whether like the original X-Men trilogy, this was all about a metaphor for homosexuality. In this case, her parents being such asses and being afraid of how the kingdom would see her makes a little more sense...they're like the homophobic parents who have to learn to respect their children as they are without hiding them away.
I guess that's why she's able to live without the gloves at the end? Otherwise, producing an heir would definitely be difficult but then, I still wonder if she is heterosexual or something else. Perhaps like Loki, she's all of the above.

I loved Marshmallow. I was sad when he got a Disney Death but then, the credits made it all better...

I admit that I wondered at one point whether they would ever update the Maelstrom with Marshmallow and fun trolls, like how they redid Mexico's ride but scarier...

Anna is definitely the first Tumblr princess. Every other line feels like I could find it on Tumblr.

My mom didn't understand why Olaf melting wouldn't qualify as the sacrifice of love. I could have done without the whole Hans subplot since she still ended up in love at first sight. Hans' plotline reminded me of Beauty and the Beast except with Elsa as the Beast.

I also loved that magic turned the hair white.
