Yep, my usual computer guy is busy and Geek Squad told me I would have to bring it in...

I changed my mouse for a wireless one a few weeks ago, it installed properly.
Unfortunately, something went wrong.

I plug in my phone, it asks whether I want to Scan or Not. If I say yes, it does. Either way, when it gets to the next part where it's supposed to show me my Inserted Device and files...

It doesn't. It seems to forget it even exists.

When you take as many photos as I do, YOU need that to work!

Please? Any ideas? Short of re-installing Windows?

Can you go to the desktop and open your phone from there? Sometimes phones don't read well on computers.

What kind of phone do you have? I have a Droid 2 and the software NEVER installs if I click that option when I plug it into my computer. I just go to the My Computer folder and browse through the phone's SD card that way. Alternatively, if your phone stores pictures on a removable SD card, just take that out and plug it into your computer. If it's a tiny SD card you'll need a micro SD converter though.

Usually phones have a micro storage card in them, like scandisk unless it's an iPhone and you can take out that storage card and put it into the computer and take the photo's off your phone that way.

Can you connect via Bluetooth? Or if you have Wireless you could hook your computer and the phone together using your router.

My phone has never showed up on My Computer. I have also used the card option in the past as well as plugging it in so I tried the card option when plugging it in wasn't working, but I had the same problem. I also have a Micro SD slot but I don't trust it or myself not to break it.

I really think it's a driver problem but I'm not sure which or how to reinstall.

I tried that, it didn't work either. I think there's a driver problem.
