After seeing all the films on the big screen in 1997, I devoured all the books...

Until the books killed off Chewbacca, Anakin and Tahiri, then they were dead to me.

I still had fond memories of the early stuff but Disney has declared it all AU.

They're releasing new canon books and I'm scared to read them. It's not just the horrible death experiences but...how long before they're AU, too?

Has anyone read the new stuff?

*Except for Sabine's art book because I couldn't resist that. It's like a journal/how to/series guide with this awesome modern artwork.

I tried to read the first of the new ones. But it was a really weird choice. It's written in a very peculiar tense, and it's... only very peripherally related to Star Wars.

So no, not good. Didn't make me feel like I was likely to read any more of the tie-ins.

I stopped reading when the books killed off Chewbacca too. Apparently the writer wanted Luke to be the one that copped it, but the higher-ups shot the suggestion down.
