The book does not make it out as a "love triangle", it is more the deviousness and politics of an English court. They want to "lure" the King in with Anne Boleyn, but he falls for Mary instead, even though she is unassuming and not out to "lure" him at all - she is forced into it and used basically. Then she must teach her sister to do the same, even though she doesn't want to. I wouldn't call it a "triangle" because it is not that simple. I have a feeling that that is what the film will make it out to be though. It has been a while since I've read the book admittedly.
