I saw Bruno yesterday and it met all my expectations. I enjoyed it far more than Borat because Borat had a number of scenes which were just uncomfortable and/or unnecessary, like the scene in the antiques store. I HATED the scene in the antiques store.
Anyway, I have some thoughts: My second favorite scene in Bruno was actually when his character was so depressed that he goes to a Village Inn and literally devours the whole dessert menu. It was everything from the Hawaiian Strawberry to chocolate sundae to the chocolate creme pie with chocolate shavings on top...
(drools)
Also, I spent the whole movie preoccupied with whether Bruno would come to his sense and realize that Lutz was his soul mate. I'm not sure if that's what was intended or whether I've been overdosing on slash lately. Apparently, like porn, there does come a point where you can overdose on slash fic/Torchwood...at least there is for me. I start thinking everything will end up having slash in it, but even though they get on really well together, there is no reason for me to expect the Doctor and Jackson to make out. There really isn't.
In conclusion, I'm hard-pressed to decide which film I liked more: Bruno or Ali G. Both films had nice, sweet endings but while Ali G had Michael Gambon as Prime Minister, Bruno had guys kissing and the Village Inn foodgasm.
Oh, and I have lost all respect for Ron Paul. I can't believe people tried to convince me to vote for him. Just because you wound up on the wrong end of a possible sex tape situation doesn't give a person any right to use "queer" to describe them not once, not twice but THREE FUCKING TIMES! To think James Moran gets crap over a fictional character saying it and Ron Paul is a real person who should know better. Shame!
