I'll write a 500 word drabble for the first person who can tell me which TWO scenes are from Dr Who. UPDATE [livejournal.com profile] pirate_moose has correctly identified the scenes as :09 and 1:55. They are both from Last of the Time Lords.

Parkway 8

I have a new theatre on my Top 5 list...Parkway 8 in Sarasota. We went yesterday and unlike our last trip to Sarasota, we didn't get lost and end up on AnaMaria Island! Yay! It was a lot less stressful than Burn's Court. It took us half an hour once we reached Sarasota to find Burn's Court, but Parkway is just off 301 and has plenty of parking that isn't confusing.

Plus, did you notice the movies? A Serious Man, Nine, Brothers, Broken Embraces and Me and Orson Welles?

And the cost per person before 6 PM? 1.50!!!

Can you believe it? It's like an arty dollar theatre. I now understand why [livejournal.com profile] wheelchairpower always talked up the Cobb in college. It even has an anti-littering animation with Yoda using the Force to divert the cup into the trash and Disney music during the advertising beforehand! For the first film, they were playing the Nightmare before Christmas soundtrack and later, it was the Broadway album of The Lion King.

That's actually a fountain inside the theatre.

Guess how much it costs after 6 PM? Two dollars! If only it wasn't two hours away...
We saw Broken Embraces and Me and Orson Welles which were both excellent. The second was filmed in the Gaiety Theatre on the Isle of Mann that was built in 1899 and it was gorgeous. I thought for sure it was 1920s until I looked it up later. Also, we got bananas for a snack at a nearby Publix and they had Super Monkeyball stickers, but even more impressive...they had copies of the Daily Mail! It was like, Bradenton, Sarasota, USA Today, New York Times...London?!!! It's so different than our papers here, but Garfield still remains, lol.
