Terra nova

I finally watched the two hour premiere of Terra Nova. I was excited since it's dinosaurs and Spielberg, what could go wrong?

After fifteen minutes, I felt like Ian Malcolm.

"Ah, now eventually you do plan to have dinosaurs on your, on your dinosaur tour, right?"

I guess I'm spoiled by Primeval where they realize people watch for the animals and not the plot-lines. Plus, I tend to HATE Dystopian stories and that's what this is basically, complete with classic American family chastised for having a third child.

Then, we get dinosaurs and they shoot at them. I suppose it could be tranqs or something non-lethal but it didn't seem that way...

The main dinosaur is something called a slasher which is either something so new they didn't bother with a proper name or they thought we were too stupid to be told. Geez, at least with Jurassic Park, they might have been incorrect names for what was shown but they all had names.

The head of the settlement seems like a ripoff of the Avatar guy, but nicer. Now, the oldest daughter in the family is awesome. She's extremely smart with science and math, including dinosaur knowledge...
And she's made to feel embarrassed or a freak everytime she says anything remotely smart.

WTF? I thought we were past this!

When you have such awesome female role models in the first two Jurassic Park films, this is what pissed me off the most.

So, did anyone watch the third episode? Does it get better?

Now, I know that it can be confusing to understand what the protests are all about and the media isn't helping. They either paint them as a bunch of stoner college kids or Democrats pissed at Obama or whiny brats. This doesn't make up the whole picture. It also doesn't establish WHY they are protesting or what they want to achieve or that it's a group so varied that it includes grandmothers and veterans from every war from Iraq to WW2..

This link has their PRINCIPLES OF SOLIDARITY-

They also have a Tumblr since Tumblrs are pretty:

You might notice how most of the Tumblr photos are not from protestors outside but those who can't make the actual demonstrations yet still believe that something is wrong in this country.

Occupy Wall Street is NOT a political party. In fact, while this banner was not approved by organizers, it was passed around and cheered as the general feeling of the group.
Dear MoveOn FUCK OFF

In 1964, federal taxation as a share of the economy stood at 17.5 percent, while unemployment was at 5.2 percent. That year, income taxes were slashed, lowering the tax rate in 1965 to 17 percent of the economy. Unemployment dropped as well, to 4.5 percent.

But then tax levels rose sharply, to 19.7 percent of the economy in 1969, while unemployment fell steadily, to 3.5 percent.

In 1981, President Ronald Reagan again slashed taxes. Taxation fell from 19.6 percent of the economy that year to 17.4 percent in 1983. The unemployment rate, however, rose over that period, from 7.6 percent to 9.6 percent. By 1989, taxation had drifted upward again, to 18.3 percent of the economy, but unemployment had fallen to 5.3 percent.

So, I was watching Jimmy Kimmel last week and Evangeline Lilly was on. He introduces her as "Evangeline Lilly from Lost" which immediately annoys her and then, the first words out of his mouth are, "So, what happened in that finale?"

"Jay Leno introduced me as Evangeline Lilly from Real Steel."

*Tense moment more*

"I thought you said we were in Heaven."

"If we were in Heaven, there would be no Jay Leno."

It got me to thinking about Conan's New York show and hoping so very, very much that he'd appear on Jimmy Fallon or at the very least, The Daily Show or The Colbert Report. The very next night, I got my wish!

Now, normally, I would simply embed the video of Conan O'Brien being on Jimmy Fallon, but there are two problems.

1. I don't trust NBC and footage containing Conan.
2. The last time I used Hulu, it hijacked my Friends' Friends Pages and raped them.

Instead, I have a transcript and because I'm a sad fangirl, sixteen screencaps made the old-fashioned way with a dvr, pause button and a camera.

So on Thursday, Grey's Anatomy had a barrage of crush injuries caused by a stampede at Comic Convention.

What caused this stampede? The first 40 people were going to get a toy Tardis signed by Russell T. Davies.

*facepalm*

Really?

If it was any other show, I'd say they had jumped the shark but they did that 500 million episodes ago...
