Romney: “President Obama’s failed economic policies have led to more regulations.”

Reality: Not only has President Obama approved fewer regulations through his first three years than President Bush did, but he signed an executive order requiring agencies to develop tools to eliminate ineffective or burdensome regulations. He initiated an overhaul to roll back more than 500 regulatory reforms from 26 different agencies.

Romney: “[President Obama] said that if we let him borrow $787 billion, he would hold unemployment below 8%.”

Reality: Fact checkers have repeatedly found this claim to be false. As the Associated Press plainly points out, “Obama never said the he would hold unemployment below 8 percent if Congress adopted his stimulus package.” The Washington Post even notes that “the information to disprove this claim exists on the Romney campaign website.”

Romney: President Obama “has not created more jobs for the American people.”

Reality: When President Obama took office, the economy was losing an average of 752,000 private sector jobs per month. But for the last 25 straight months, the economy has added more than 4 million private sector jobs.

Romney: “The number of new businesses started per year is down 100,000 a year under the Obama term.”

Reality: In 2011 the rate of business starts was 5 percent higher than before the recession, translating into more than 540,000 new businesses started each month.

Romney: “Did you know, by the way, that of all the jobs lost during the Obama years, 93% were lost by women? 93% were lost by women.”

Reality: Fact checkers and economic experts have labeled this charge “dubious,” “skewed,” and “mostly false.” Romney’s “statistic” provides no meaningful measure as it “ignores critical facts” that would provide a more honest picture of the economy.

Romney: “If [President Obama] remains President of the United States, you’re going to see more trillion-dollar deficits piling up and piling up.”

Reality: The President’s budget would cut the deficit by $4 trillion over the next decade, putting the country on course “toward a level of deficits of below 3 percent of GDP by the end of the decade. “The President has already enacted $1 trillion in spending cuts, which will bring discretionary spending to its lowest levels as a share of the economy since the Eisenhower Administration.

Romney: “It’s servicemen and women coming home from conflict to a welcoming nation but a very inhospitable job market.”

Reality: President Obama is committed to ensuring that our veterans have access to the jobs and opportunities they deserve. The President has enacted several tax credits to help get veterans back to work, including the Returning Heroes Tax Credit which gives businesses a maximum credit of $5,600 for every unemployed veteran hired; the Wounded Warriors Tax Credit which offers businesses that hire veterans with service-connected disabilities a maximum credit of $9,600 per veteran. He also announced that certain grant programs that support emergency responder programs nationwide will give preference to communities “that recruit and hire post-9/11 veterans to serve as police officers and firefighters.”

Joss Whedon was on CBS Sunday Morning. Of course, it was awesome but I almost wondered whether my squeeing became supersonic...

For a few seconds, they showed some raw, black and white footage of Much Ado about Nothing!
I only made out Clark Gregg (know that profile anywhere!) and Amy Acker but so awesome, want trailer now!

That's the problem with getting two new Whedon projects in less than a month, you get spoiled and want to know what the next one will be...

If you've known me for a while, you know how I detest 3D movies. I do anything possible to see 2D and complain. This is based on my experiences at Disney and Universal where dueling projectors make for a very flashy, strobing miserable experience if I leave the glasses on too long.

I accepted this and that I should not see things in 3D.

Then, I went to Five Year Engagement yesterday to find out that the local theatre installed 3D so they were only showing Pirates: Band of Misfits in 3D but more importantly, they're only showing The Avengers in 3D.

I was pissed, numb and eventually, on the verge of tears. When I called my mom, she honestly thought I had gotten sick or something. Dammit, no screws with my enjoyment of Avengers!

When my mom arrived later, she still really wanted to see Pirates rather than waiting for Monday and having to drive a county or two away to see it in 2D. I decided if she was really willing to pay that much, I could do it like at Disney...taking the glasses on and off. Larry, the owner, also had the bright idea of giving me child sized glasses. I'm not being sarcastic. They were actually a lot more pleasurable than the over-sized ones that move around.

It turns out...3D was not as bad as I thought. Part of it was the better fitting glasses and part of it was a digital projection that was a lot smoother without all the flashing like Disney. I still couldn't wear the glasses the whole time but I could watch for much longer periods. I still think it's unfair though because I do still have to watch quite a bit of the film in blurriness when my glasses are off. Plus, not everyone can do 3D even with technological improvements and it's not fair.

So, I guess I'm seeing The Avengers in 3D later this week, more on that later...

The Five-Year Engagement

Judd Apatow, Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, Chris Pratt, Mindy Kaling and...woah, that was freaking Annie from Community, NEVER WOULD HAVE RECOGNIZED HER EVER!!!
Yeah, of course, I'm going to see that and I'm not sorry. It was funny, but in a more quiet way and had a lot of drama to it. Still, I liked it. There was even a song that sounded almost like River Song in the lyrics but I'm sure I heard that wrong...IMDB doesn't have the songs up yet.

Avengers Trailer

I saw this twice, so not complaining. Ugh, I can't wait. The first time though...I found the Avengers equivalent of Liz screaming James' name when he's struck down in Pirates 3. I just knew as soon as I saw it and was like, Oh SHITTTTT!!!!!!!

Then, I saw the trailer in 3D.
WOAH
Like even my mom freaking gasped when Bruce Hulked out. It was even more amazing. You know how in the amusement park 3D films, they always have bubbles or jewels or something to make the audience feel like they have something close enough to touch?
The Avengers trailer was just like that BUT WITH HOT GUYS! HOT GUYS THAT SEEM CLOSE ENOUGH TO TOUCH!
It was like one of the greatest things I have ever seen. I admit it, I tried to touch Coulson. My eyes tricked my brain that it was totally possible.
I did not succeed. :(

Naturally, none of the other 3D trailers lived up to this.

Pirates: Band of Misfits

This totally lived up to my expectations. The cast was brilliant; Hugh Grant, David Tennant and BILBO! Err, I mean, Martin Freeman but he shall forevermore be now known as Bilbo, that's how it works...he even wore a scarf.

My main complaint would be with Queen Victoria. It was more of an AU version of her. Actually, I almost immediately shipped her with Cutler Beckett...truly, they'd be perfect for one another unless they argued over who had the better map.

I also was occasionally disappointed because I would have the glasses off, spot some neat background and think it must be awesome so I'd put the glasses back on. Unfortunately, it wouldn't add in more details. I really think some of those backgrounds could have been so much better, oh well...

Jane Austen and John Merrick being BFFs! YES!

Remember this .gif?
Photobucket

I FOUND THE WHOLE CLIP!

Why is it that I can't find that anyone is interviewing him for the film?
They're supremely stupid.
