My Mom: Isn't it horrible when you don't want to watch your favorite shows?

It is and it happened multiple times this week.

Desperate Housewives -I've covered this one already.

House -I'm really tempted to drop it. I love Hugh Laurie but this is getting totally ridiculous especially when Rachel Cuddy is the only high point of an episode.

Castle -I was fine until my FList and Entertainment Weekly kept using the term "devastating". This is something I reserve for Rusty for the most part...but yeah, devastating. Sadly though as time passes, it becomes more of a...whatever, I don't care anymore.

On Stranger Tides -I got more nervous each day. On RottenTomatoes, it went from 56% on Monday to 34% this morning. I know RottenTomatoes isn't a hundred percent the same with my tastes but it's usually a pretty good general judge of quality.

Even worse is when some of your biggest fellow fans in the POTC fandom also hate it and say that they're done with POTC.

So, by the time Cinderella's castle with pirate flag appeared, I was totally freaked out about whether it would be utter crap or not.

So, you didn't like OST? I... wasn't overly impressed either. Still, it's kind of crazy of people to say they're "done with PotC". I actually feel reinspired to read some fic....

I wouldn't say I didn't like it. I did to an extent. I definitely liked it more than AWE, but...it had a different feel to it, kind of like one of Disney's direct to dvd sequels.

Yeah, they left open so much that fandom could have years and years of possibilities.

Heh, I had pretty much the same reaction. Except, I liked AWE better, but then, I know I'm one of the minority people on the planet who loved that movie. LOL.

"it had a different feel to it, kind of like one of Disney's direct to dvd sequels."

Disney`s direct to dvd sequel is the perfect summary of this movie. Quoted for life, mate. I couldn`t pinpoint why it felt so off (outside of all the detailed complaints I`ve heard and expressed myself) but this is it. Disney`s DtD sequel is it.

So far no one I've talked to has decried the new Pirates outright. My brother's friend did give the cryptic answer of "It was hilarious. Like, crazy. Crazier than the last one." I was trying to gage what about the last one he found to be hilarious/crazy, if it was a good thing, etc., but I couldn't really. As long as no one says "It sucked" though, I guess... I'm not expecting great things from it, but it should be a fun summer film at least.

I enjoyed OST more than I did AWE. To me, it comes closest to the feel of the first movie out of the sequels. I didn't like his new love interest, and I wish Elizabeth had been around - those are my only two complaints. Intellectually, I know they're done with the Elizabeth/Will storyline, but... meh. I don't care. Just because she's in love and had his baby doesn't mean her life is over.

The sidestory with the mermaid had me irritated. I didn't really see the point in it, and it kept taking away from the action. It was like watching a live action little mermaid.

Idk. I actually really enjoyed OST, perhaps more so than DMC and AWE. It felt more grounded than the other sequels in that it wasn't quite as over the top and the characters weren't blown out of proportion. I guess you can say that it didn't feel like the other sequels, but imo, the sequels didn't feel at all like COTBP, which remains one of my biggest complaints about DMC and AWE. I think OST is the first Pirates sequel that almost reaches the same level as COTBP.

I guess that's an unpopular opinion. *shrug*

I don't know how people can say they're "done with POTC." I feel like delving back into the fandom myself.

LOL about CASTLE. Knowing they're going to pretty much ignore C's declaration of love to B, I almost don't give a shit anymore, myself.

If you've read anything by me, lately, you know I loved ON STRANGER TIDES. I have to agree that it is more like the first film, a standalone story, in its way...but it was definitely better than AWE, much more fun and funny. It was also nice to see a different side to Jack--a side that was hinted at, but never fully explored with Elizabeth because of the fact that she was clearly in love with Will.

I loved it.

Thanks for reminding me that I haven't watched House's finale yet. Should do. Husband's completely over the show now.

Castle was devastating but really good. I mean, we knew that they wouldn't really kill off Beckett, but his "I love you" made me squee.

The finale for House is on right now and I'm not even watching. I might catch up on my FList, I might not. I don't even care any more.

You know, I almost wish they would kill her off because they've jerked us around so many times...
Sure they do that with every show, but like with Bones, we always knew at some point they would get together and with Castle, I just don't know...there wasn't as much hope.

I get what you the anxiousness. That's how I was with Toy Story 3 last year. Like, I pretty much knew it would be awesome considering it was Pixar, but there was a small part of me that was afraid it wouldn't be and my childhood would be shattered.

I tend not to look at reviews and stuff like that before I go see a movie, because I don't really like to have a judgment going in to it. Plus it's hard to trust reviews since they're opinions, so you never know.
