Okay, I know in the marketing that The Hundred - footJourneyjust looked like another stupid, sappy Disney film...

but I totally loved it.

it was directed by Lasse Hallstrom so it all these wonderful shots of food and making food like Chocolat. Then, the music was by A.R. Rahman who's always awesome.

Actually, I guess the basic plot is similar to Chocolat as well except Helen Mirren's character comes to the correct way of thinking a lot sooner. However,  I did love how it addressed immigration and other cultures making their new country's culture better by their influence and hard work. The film feels a little long at the end so I was able to guess it was adapted from a book.

Also, the lead actor,  Manish Dayal, is really attractive. My mom agrees on this point.

P.S. I can't discuss Indian cooking in films without once again suggesting Today's Special, such a good movie.

I so wanted to go see this movie, but I was really worried that it was going to be too much of the culture war through the whole movie.
Guess I will have to wait for the dvd now. :)

I would for Manish Dayal so hard. And he was really great in it too.

Immediately after the film, I was already trying to cast him in a Marvel film but it's hard when so few characters are originally Indian. I think he'd make a nice Dr. Strange though.

I just want to be able to see him on the big screen again!
