What should you do when all your favorite characters die?

This summer I was faced with a crisis. This summer should be known as the Debacle of Death!

Between May 1st through July 31, not one, not two but a total of NINE of my favorites characters died from impalement, drowning, spells, a knife and one awful snake from my fandoms of Spider-man, Lost, Pirates and Harry Potter. By the time I finished Harry Potter, I swore I’d never love again.

However, the Fandom Gods had other plans for me. I fell hard for the title character of a show I’d watched casually for over a year: Dr. Who.

It happened so gradually that I didn’t notice what had gone from a show that I could miss if my schedule didn’t work out or I forgot to a show that I now watch every single time that it’s on, both on SciFi and BBC America. I also love Torchwood which is the spin-off.

Now what makes Dr. Who and Captain Jack Harkness, star of Torchwood, so different from my previous favorite characters?

THEY CAN’T DIE!!!

Ever…

(Cackles manically.)

That’s my new plan; I should only fall in love with immortal characters who will never let me down.

And I am completely with you on the character death front. And yay Jack and the Doctor! :D Wait 'til you see the finale; massive info on Jack comes to the surface that'll change the way you look at him (as well as another chara) forever ;)

Yeah, I cheated with the pic. I cut it and put it back together so Martha wouldn't be in it since she's mortal...at least I'm assuming she is.

Hmm, I've seen Utopia and the first three Torchwood episodes. Do you mean there's more to him than being "wrong' according to the TARDIS, having been pregnant once, lived through the first half of the 20th century twice and unable to die because Rose messed up bringing him back?

And what's this about another character???

But you know, I really liked the Master. I loved that whole set-up. I never thought I'd love a non-Moffatt episode so much and I'm so tempted to cheat and watch the next two episodes on Youtube, but I will resist because they're so much better on tv.

I'm also curious about Ianto. I've been spoiled a bit about season 2 so when I was watching episode three and they finally mentioned him by name, it's like, "OH, you're the one that ends up being Jack's lover!!"

Actually, Jack points Ianto out to Gwen when he's introducing the entire team in the pilot. Jack says something to the effect of, "And he looks good in a suit." To which Ianto replies, "That's harrassment, sir."

And about Ianto they hint and hint throughout the first series that they're lovers but then in one episode they stop hinting, lol. But it's (of course) just a scene with Jack and Ianto, soes~
