Ok, first, you've been hinting around that you want Conan. Now, I understand your reasoning. You put Wanda Sykes on Saturdays last fall and it's logical that you'd want a show at 11 PM on weeknights to compete against the news programs on everyone else' channel.

Except it's Conan...he's not someone like Chevy Chase or Joss Whedon where you can dick him around and everything's fine...I think Conan's fanbase has proved ourselves even more rabid than Browncoats.

And if it weren't weird enough that you wanted Conan, now it's just starting to feel like you went through my fandom list one by one and you're trying to buy them all...

Because if you notice on my post about shows that only made it one season even though they were incredibly awesome, there are 16 shows. SEVEN of those were on Fox. Fox does not have a good track record with science fiction.

Heck, Fox doesn't even have a good record with the BBC!

Does no one with the BBC remember what happened in 1996?

You? Fox? In bed together like this? Fox sweet-talked you into letting them do a tv movie that would lead to a series and you agreed, but like five people came to the party and THEN FOX PRETENDED IT NEVER HAPPENED?!!!

If it's one thing I've learned from the mess with Conan, if a television channel has done it before, they are totally capable and willing to screw you again.

Plus... Unlike U.S. adaptations that have gone awry, "Torchwood" fans can take comfort that the original producing team is on board, led by series creator Russell Davies who is writing the script.

Yeah, some of us won't take comfort in that fact considering that we don't trust him or them at all after last summer.

Also, some of the current cast -- most likely John Barrowman, who plays the immortal Capt. Jack Harkness -- might star if the script leads to a pilot order.

Yeah...unless this takes place before COE, John and Eve ARE the cast! That's the problem, you killed everyone else listed during the theme song.

However, I am VERY amused and saddened that Rusty was able to pass on the throne of most hated man in television to someone else. You must be very proud of yourself, Jeff Zucker. If Montgomery Burns was a real person, even he would be taking notes.

I posted my thoughts about this news on another entry about the same thing earlier today, but I'll restate them. Even though I won't be watching season four if one is made, the near wreck RTD made of it still doesn't deserve to suffer the same fate the U.S. versions of Coupling, Viva Blackpool, and Life On Mars did, that is, be ditched after only an episode or two. I hope for the sake of John Barrowman and the audience who is still going to tune in to Torchwood that this terrible idea never comes to fruition!

Not only that, but that same article apparently also states that the person in charge of programming is hoping to do an American version of Doctor Who, of all things! I don't know how much of a fan you are of that, but doing that, to me, would be an even worse idea! Doing an American version of Torchwood is one thing, though I most definitely don't want it to happen, for the reason I stated above, but doing so with Doctor Who is something else all together! That is one show that should never be considered as a candidate for a U.S. remake!

I only wish I had a similar TW icon to express my dismay, but until then, Sammy boy will have to do.

I hope this never happens, a BBC produced series 4 I probably would watch, but not an American one.
Why can't the US just show the original series on more channels, surely that's cheaper and less horrible.

Sadly, it puts a really horrible idea in my head that the real reason for Ianto being offed in COE wasn't to progress the story, but so they could transfer Torchwood to America.
ie: kill off the one thing in TW stopping it from being shown on network TV in the US, the homosexual relationship.

Yeah, basically I'm there, I would rather it's before CoE. It would NOT create a plot-hole because obviously, Torchwood NEVER has plot-holes!

I'd really like a Ianto episode though...

Pre-season two is an interesting idea since that would have Tosh and Owen and Rusty's usual plothole logic would again apply...

I could picture part of that being done during Jack's travels that were alluded to or after he meets Alonzo...but then, unless you make an alien the leader or someone with superhuman abilities, it won't be quite the same as British Torchwood. A lot of it is the fact that Jack can't die and has seen everything and has no fear of death.

I can understand why someone would want to do it, but if it has to be done...why does it have to be Fox?

BBCA is the ONLY channel that has shown it here and honestly, what I would LOVE would be for Sundance to show it like they do Shameless because that way, it would have all the language and nudity intact unlike BBCA!

Heck, even PBS censors stuff now! They NEVER used to until that stupid, fucking Janet Jackson thing. I remember watching Prime Evil on PBC and they did have a Parental Advisory warning because they let every single "fuck" be audible. It was wonderful and then that stupid Super Bowl thing had to happen and now PBS won't show anything. My Spooks has all sorts of audio missing from time to time.

If that's why he killed Ianto, someone should have introduced him to ABC a LONG TIME AGO!!! Heck, Sunday night from 9-11 is full of homosexual men in committed relationships goodness. There have been a lot of times when Kevin and Scotty, particularly Scotty, was the only reason I kept watching Brothers and Sisters. They even had M-PREG! It was a dream sequence, but still...they had M-PREG!

Geez, it's like he doesn't understand American TV at ALL!

The Doctor/Master canon shipping was very nice...but did not win my trust back. This proves that it can't be earned back yet.

I'd be more okay with this if it wasn't Fox!!! Heck, even FX scares me after what happened with The Riches...I loved that show.

I agree trying to remake Torchwood is a bad idea, but I think I'm more frightened by that mention of an American version of Doctor Who. One would think Fox and/or the BBC would have learned their lesson. (Why couldn't the Eighth Doctor have gotten a proper British-made, British-set series?)

There are some things which are just uniquely British and should not be Americanized. And really, Americanized remakes of Brit shows don't have a very good track record in the first place.

If something is Americanized it should be for a legitimate reason like a possibly different or interesting take...

I'm still weary about The Karate Kid remake with Jackie Chan, but it's different enough and has nods to the original that I'm willing to give it a chance.
