Work Post: Dads

K has developmental problems. She'll remember things like having to give each dressing room entrant a number but every month is the same discussion on that month's shrink topic.

I'm usually scheduled to look after her. Unfortunately, she comes up with the weirdest questions. One day, she asked me about how she was going to get her dad's permission to dye her hair because "wouldn't you want your dad's permission? Wouldn't you want him happy above all else?"

Oh my gosh, it was way too fucking early to get involved in family crap.

Considering that I told my dad that there was no way in hell I was going to be an engineer when he tried to dictate my college major, I'm going with no. No, you don't want your dad to be happy above all else if it doesn't also make you happy.

But then my dad raised me to be an independent person, so.

But holy crap, that raises all sorts of questions in my mind.
