I rather like Connor and Abby's new looks -- they look a bit more mature, and it shows they've really been stuck in the Cretaceous for a while. I wonder how long they've been there?
Have you watched the webisodes? I think I'm liking the new characters, although I don't quite trust Matt. And then of course, DR. BASHIR!!!!!
Hey there :)! *Waves* I'm really looking forward to tonight, too =)! I can't wait :)!
I've read in a few places that they've been gone for a year, hence all the changes they're greeted by when they return to the ARC (and assuming you don't know about them already, that's where I'm going to stop, so as not to spoil things ;)).
Connor and Abby's new looks are growing on me.
Me too :]. Well, Abby's at least. There won't be too much adjustment required in terms of Connor, as judging from pics I've seen, he shaves at some point. Where we will see changes, though, is in the way he dresses and his level of maturity, along with a few other personality-related things.
One of the best season openers for a show I've seen, I'd say :]. Translation: I absolutely LOVED it =)! It had the perfect mix of everything: funny moments (e.g. I was cracking up when the team, chiefly Matt, was trying to wrangle the Dracorex. Anyone who can stay so damn calm with a big dinosaur on the rampage like that, then calls it princess, of all things, is cool in my book :D), touching moments, like that one between Connor & Abby on the balcony, which I loved, too, action, drama (e.g. this new side of Captain Becker we're seeing), and great character interactions :). All in all, it was a very well-written episode, I think one of the best in the whole series, actually 8). How about you? What did you think :]?
Hehe, he does look pretty sexy all scruffy & bearded, doesn't he :)?
I loved that moment between the two of them at the end
Like I said above, that was one of my favorite moments, too :). They're very clearly an honest-to-goodness couple now. Amazing what a difference a year in a place that's virtually hell can make, isn't it :]? Another moment I absolutely loved was the Abby/Becker/Connor reunion hug. So sweet, and so unexpected a move from Mr. "Action Man" Becker :). With the combination of that and the fact that finally he's going to be written as something more than a cookie cutter soldier type, young Captain Becker may very well have earned a place in my "favorite characters" list by the time this season ends :].
Also, what happened to Rex?
Well, in the preview for this coming Saturday's episode, we saw a bit of a scene of, I'm guessing, Connor, sitting at a table petting him, so I think it's safe to say he's still around (which, by default, means the same is true for Sid & Nancy) :].
Let's see, what to add? Much as I'll always miss Nick and Stephen, I think I'm going to like Matt :]. That scene at the beginning with him chasing after the Dracorex planted the seed, I think, and then the way he interacts with the other characters, especially Becker, solidified it :). I am rather wary about what he and the bearded, bespectacled guy in the suit are up to, though :|. I'm wondering what that scene was a setup for :/. I loved all the Connor/Abby stuff, of course, and it was cool to see Connor actually showing a backbone for once :]. I also liked the way Connor & Abby seemed to settle so seamlessly back into working as part of the team when they were trying to get control of the Spinosaurus. Of course, that made it all the more unbelievable when, almost immediately after, they were told by Lester and Burton that they basically couldn't work for the ARC anymore because they didn't have enough experience B[. Total BS, obviously, considering where (and WHEN) they'd just returned from, but it made for some good drama and allowed us to get a glimpse of the more experienced, grown up Connor, so it wasn't all bad :].
Do you mean the "new game" challenges? If so, then no. In fact, I haven't played any games on Neo since, probably, the GMC for this past year. When there aren't events like that going on, all I do (and have done for awhile now) are my dailies, and if I need to, feed my pets. Why :]?
Oh, I do all the new game challenges. This new one was really kicking my butt but I finally got it today.
I loved last night's night episode! Connor and Duncan were so cute and when Connor was like, I should get angry more often!
I spent an hour trying to find Primeval fanfic and reading it. I love all the cute Cabby goodness...but everyone's been complaining that episode 3 is subpar...I'm guessing that's when he shaves.
I did a couple of them a while back, but haven't taken part in any since. I don't know what happened that I suddenly stopped playing games on the site :[. For a while, I'd make an effort to play at least a few of the games on my "Favorites" list, but I haven't even done that in awhile :|.
This new one was really kicking my butt but I finally got it
Congratulations :)!
I liked it, too :). And yes, all the scenes between Connor & Duncan were very cute :).
when Connor was like, I should get angry more often!
Do you mean when he basically told Lester they could keep him off the team, but he'd continue to investigate reports of creature sightings, no matter what? If so, then yes, I thought that was really great, too 8). He's definitely grown up quite a bit :).
I spent an hour trying to find Primeval fanfic and reading it.
If you aren't averse to coming across a good amount of slash fiction and AU stuff, you might like to join this LJ community I'm part of, called primeval_denial. Another good one, though I don't visit it as often, is primeval_fanfic. The other members of both, but especially the former, are all very friendly, and don't mind if you lurk for a while before actually posting :]. Do you mean in fanfiction, or in the episode(s)? If you mean the latter, then I'm really enjoying seeing that, too 8). The writers took forever moving their relationship forward :/, but now that it's actually happening, I think it was worth the wait :].
Really? Huh :[. I'm actually very optimistic about it. I've always found the episodes where most of the focus is on human characters the most interesting of all (the ep where we were first introduced to the Dracorex is a favorite, for example). The ones that focus on the team trying to track down and capture a marauding creature are fun, and a few, like the one with the Raptors running wild in the mall, are on my "favorite eps" list, but in most cases, the reason for that is/was because either the mood & atmosphere are great, as in the one I mentioned above, or there are great moments between and/or involving the characters (e.g. the third episode of S3. While it wasn't exactly a happy one, because it was the last ep Nick appeared in, I still love it. That scene of him and Abby helping the young woman deliver her baby while the Diictodons were wreaking havoc in the hospital was one of my favorite parts of the whole thing :].).
I'm guessing that's when he shaves.
Hehe, you really like bearded Connor, don't you :D? Just playing ; ). I do, too :). The beard makes him look older and more mature, somehow :]. Still, while we'll no longer see physical manifestations of that once he's shaved, the way he's behaved thus far toward the characters who could conceivably be described as authority figures (e.g. Burton and Lester) tells me that we'll continue to see this new, grown-up version of him :]. I've also read something very interesting about where the writers might take his character. I'll go ahead and say what it was, but be forewarned, it's pretty spoilery. It's not a reveal of a major event in the storyline or anything like that, but it still gives away a good amount. Anyway, to continue. What I read was worded something like this: "Viewers might start to wonder what Connor's motives are." Some interesting possibilities for the meaning of that statement, yes ;)?
I was already a member of denial so I just asked to join the fanfic site. I love that we're finally getting their relationship but now that I have that...it's just made me want more, lol. I've been reading all the couple fics, including R, lol, but I also want things that might ever happen on the show like marriage or kids. I have yet to see a kid fic, I might just have to write my own at some point.
You were? Huh! I never saw you, at not least until you did the friending meme that was posted a couple of weeks ago. I figure that's because you're a lurker like me :). I posted that TW/Primeval crossover fic I'm working on the day I joined Denial, but other than occasionally putting in my two cents on the "Sunday Chat" threads or another topic that interests me, I don't do much but read a handful or so of posts, then move on. I haven't checked in at primeval_fanfic since I joined the group a few weeks or so ago, though. For some reason, I've always written more fic than I read :/. The only exception to that is the LJ community for Bones that I'm a member of. My habits there are just the opposite of, well, pretty much every other community I'm a member of :P. There, I read more fic than I write, mostly to pass the time (and on the rare occasion, feel better) while we wait for TPTB to make Booth and Brennan a couple.
I love that we're finally getting their relationship but now that I have that...it's just made me want more, lol.
A very understandable response :). Regarding your desire to read stuff that shows, to quote you, "things that might never happen on the show, like marriage or kids": I agree. I'd like to see fics with that sort of thing, too :). *Thinks* Actually, I did, *headslap* :P, but not on LJ. A while ago, I was directed from deviantArt to an outside site that was set up for this extensive AU fic-verse called "Primeval Paradox". Unfortunately, the last time I checked, the site had gone kaput and hadn't been updated in ages :[! It's actually a shame, because it was quite a well-imagined 'verse :(. It takes place several years in the future, possibly even a few decades or so, after, I think, the end of S1. In it, Connor & Abby are married with two twin children, and Nick & Claudia are married and have a daughter. Both Stephen and Helen are also alive.
I have yet to see a kid fic, I might just have to write my own at some point.
You should 8)! *Nods enthusiastically* If you find the inspiration, you should go for it =). I'd definitely read that 8)!
As my comment is already hugely long, I'll try to summarize my thoughts on episodes three and four as briefly as possible :}. My general impression of the two? I liked them, though episode four somewhat more than episode three. The Tree Raptors in that were very cool, though :). Ever since I saw Jurassic Park, Raptors have been my favorite species of dinosaur. What else? I'm intrigued by Emily (and Ethan, really). I'm actually kind of hoping she'll eventually become a main character :). After episode four, I've finally come to the conclusion that I do not like Burton B[. I mean, he wanted to euthanize every single one of the creatures being kept in the menagerie, including Rex, because what, they're an inconvenience B/? He's the owner of a corporation, for heaven's sake! Surely he'd be able to cough up enough money to make the improvements to the ARC that Abby suggested B\. I did love Lester's ultimatum to him, though 8). Paraphrasing what he said: "You can go ahead with this action, and I'll do a less than stellar job of making sure the ARC project is kept under wraps, or you can abandon the idea, and I'll continue to help cover your ass. Your choice" :). I'm not sure how I feel about the writers suddenly putting sort of a wedge between Connor and Abby :[, though it might not last. On the one hand, they're such a great couple and have grown so much as one that I don't want it to be spoiled, but on the other, every relationship has its ups and downs, so it's more realistic, I guess, to show them hitting rough spots every now and again :/.
You should 8)! *Nods* Given what you said in the post this response is for, that newest contest sounds like it's right up your alley, and I'll definitely read whatever you come up with :). I'm not likely to join the comm myself, as smutty stories aren't really my cup of tea, in terms of either reading or writing, but there are some people who do like them, and I respect that :].
Oh yeah, I think they are too, but it's just kind of hard to watch (much like the whole Booth/Hannah/Brennan plotline going on in Bones right now).
did you notice the password?
:)
I did 8). *Nods* When I saw what it was, I thought, "Awww..., how sweet is that 8}?" I wonder if the show will run long enough (or they'll be in it long enough :/) for us to see Connor propose to Abby? I'd love it if we did 8)!
