The sad thing about me is that not only did I recognise the quote but also remembered that it first appeared in Book I Chapter 2.

That's not sad. Actually, I always feel kind of bad since my love of Harry Potter happened during high school so I was able to read them over and over, but I didn't discover Tolkien until college so I've read all of his just a few times each except for the Silmarillion, my favorite, which I've read five or six times. I should really try to even them up more sometime. However, my nephews seemed to really enjoy watching Princess Mononoke yesterday so I was toying with showing them my dvds.

Hee, I was like that with both HP and LOTR. There was a time when I was actually keeping track of how many times I'd read them. :)
But I on the other hand feel bad because I still haven't read The Silmarillion. I got halfway through the book when I was a teen but then for some reason or other I put it down and have never picked it up again. Though I've been thinking of it a lot over these past months.
I'm sure your nephews will like your dvds then. LOTR's awesomefantasticwithbattlesandheroesandhobbitsandstuff. I'm already making plans of reading The Hobbit to my cousin- but she's not yet a year old so I'm afraid I shall have to wait several years for that.
