Jedi Bear!

In September 2001, when International Mall opened, I first saw a Build-a-Bear store. I'd never heard of it before. It was full of stuffed animals and clothes. They were cute. They were fluffy.

They were expensive.

Yet at the close of out first semester of college two months later, after everything we'd gone through, my friends and I splurged and bought bears. This is Harkin:

As you can see, these eight years have left their mark on her especially the overalls. They were NOT from Build-a-Bear. I was too cheap for a whole outfit at the time: I only got her shoes, glasses, a red hat that must be somewhere in the house and a giggle sound - the giggle sound still works!!! Thus, I bought her overalls at a thrift store, sized Infants Three Months.

The rose garland she's wearing is from Global Village at UT in 2002.

My mom's been "hinting" for the past year that Harkin needed a new outfit. I wasn't sure. I don't like change and Harkin has looked like that since Christmas Break 2001 and went through all my other semesters in college with that outfit...but might as well look, right?

The 35th anniversary Hello Kitty dress was gorgeous but entirely too girly for my bear. She's supposed to be more of a Tomboy like me. The Justice clothes were cute but a bit too normal...I could have just bought a new baby outfit.

Then, they came out with Star Wars outfits and I found the perfect one!

Disney Sales!

Something to keep in mind if you are going to Disney this year especially January, November and December...Disney does have SALES AND CLEARANCE items!

See all those adorable plush characters up there? All bought on sale. Pooh, despite being a holiday item, was on sale due to all plush of his size being on sale for 14.99 each so just because something seems special doesn't mean it won't be included in a sale.

Stitch, Pluto and Chip & Dale were on sale due to another technicality.



Yes, they were labeled as 2009 so when 2009 merchandise became half off...so did they. This happened around Thanksgiving so if you're going around that time or later or have connections, make plans! At that point, everything 2010 will be half-price, INCLUDING PLUSH AND PINS. Score. I'm not buying anything 2010 until then.

Disney tends to have sale items in every store if you look. Sometimes, they are announced on cardboard signs stuck around and sometimes, you just have to be on the look out for red price tags. I got a plush Yeti for half price at Animal Kingdom.

Belated Birthday Post!!!

Yeah, it was last month and I should have done this a long time ago, but here it is...

In the morning, my mom and I shopped at the Grove. I got the Smurf, an Ohm bracelet, Froot-loops Woody, some other things and the collector's edition of Dreamgirls which I've never seen, but it has Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce so it can't be too bad.

Last year, SciFi had a Sarah Jane Adventures marathon on my birthday, but this year, I gave up on them and ordered the first two seasons for myself. They were supposed to arrive on the 17th, but it arrived on the 16th, yay!!

I splurged on a Ramen meal with German Potato Salad...finally, a potato salad I can eat! We also had So Delicious! ice cream sandwiches which live up to their name. My mom said it was the first ice cream sandwich she had eaten since she was a kid.

We also found a very cute clearance Halloween Outfit for our Ty Bunny in the living room...it hides the electrical wires.
