Now, I get the awesomeness of a HUGE Lotso, but if you're going to pay fifty bucks for a stuffed animal, he should at least be as soft and cuddly as the Eeyore they sell at WDW or do something...

The figurine playset is to illustrate the scale of Lotso.

so...

Doctor Who

When [livejournal.com profile] valoscope first told me she was going to watch every single Doctor Who episode, I admit I laughed. It wasn't humanly possible...at least not without a time machine, but it got me to thinking just because SOME of the episodes are lost, doesn't mean I should just ignore ALL of them. Then, Barnes & Nobles had the first few episodes in a boxed set on sale for twenty bucks a couple of months ago. You can't beat that.

Some of it is definitely the same and some is very different. I felt so modern and childish because I had a HARD time keeping up with the cavemen plotline. I never was quite sure who I was supposed to root for or if I was meant to like any of them other than the Doctor and Susan.

The Doctor is kind of grumpy at times which was a little strange. In the newer seasons, this was attributed to the whole time war thing, but this predates that so I'm not sure if it's just that body or he's so tired of his own race that he's hiding out on Earth or he's missing his family. We still don't know why Susan is with her grandfather, whether there was already a family tragedy or she's completed her schooling so road-trip with grandpa!

Also, I have a pet-peeve now for BBC dvds. When I bought Coupling, it was awesome because when I pressed "PLAY ALL", it played ALL of it! However, with this dvd set and The Sarah Jane Adventures, it plays...the first episode and then...REPEATS THE FIRST EPISODE! Not cool, please fix for further box sets, like The Sarah Jane Adventures series three.

As self-financed gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott nears a crucial cap, he has filed a lawsuit hoping to keep his competitors from benefiting from his spending.

Scott, a Naples-based health care executive with a large personal fortune, has eschewed public financing for his campaign. But Florida’s campaign finance law provides for matching publicly-financed funding for candidates once one member of the races spends $24.9 million, or $2 for every registered voter in the state. Once an independently financed campaign crosses that threshold, all opponents are entitled to matching funds up to $4 for every registered voter, or about $49.8 million this year.

Scott has already spent $21 million of his own money, according to a lawsuit he filed in U.S. District Court in Tallahassee. The suit contends the law that gives his candidates a dollar-for-dollar match for any amount Scott spends more than $24.9 million violates Scott’s First Amendment rights to political speech. Scott’s suit also claims he is doubly penalized by the rule because he plans to support whomever wins the Republican nomination for governor, a candidate who could be attacked with matching funds given to candidates from other parties.

“Rick Scott filed suit in the federal court to protect his First and 14th Amendment rights and block taxpayer subsidy of political campaigns,” )
