Tampa Theatre
Jul. 20th, 2010 11:27 amIf you haven't seen a film at Tampa Theatre, you really need to. It's this beautiful movie house that was built in 1926 as an atmospheric theatre and less than 94 exist in the whole world. The Architect, John Eberson, built 135 movie palaces in his lifetime...now only 50 remain. It's a rarity and a treasure. Like Hogwarts' Great Hall, the ceiling is made to look like the night sky while you are in a Venetian courtyard surrounded by opulence.
Even the exit...

One of the other perks about seeing a film is that you may be lucky enough to witness this...

An organist comes up from the floor and plays several songs, using Tampa Theatre's almost 900 pipes. If you look closely at the middle of this photo, you might be able to spot some of them. This is stage right.
