It was yesterday. Yes, it was. I know this because in 9th grade, we had Monday, January 19th, 1998 off for MLK day and Tuesday, January 20th, 1998 off for Teacher Planning day and they happened to coincide with the WB's BUFFY TWO NIGHT EVENT!!!

Yes, it absolutely had all-caps. It was a TWO NIGHT EVENT! No longer was Buffy relegated to Mondays after Seventh Heaven, it was going to kick off a brand new night for the network: Tuesday! They had ads every five minutes in case we could forget and a countdown to the series premiere of Dawson's Creek which I didn't want to like at first because WB was slamming it down our throats but dammit...he had a freaking Jurassic Park poster in his bedroom! How could I resist that?

Anyway, Buffy had her 17th birthday on January 19th, 1998 which is when she slept with Angel and things were...bad...but oh so fun to watch...but bad for the characters, definitely bad.

I didn't think anyone cared anymore. Happily, I was wrong.

Buffy's 30th birthday celebration!

However, DO NOT READ if you're not caught up with the comic season 8. I was ignoring/repressing an event from the last issue but it was confirmed in this article and I was pissed/sad about it all over it again.

In other news, if this is what Jane Espenson feels about Gwen, we might end up having our best Gwen episodes ever. *fingers crossed*
Espenson sees characters like "Battlestar Gallactica's" (a sci-fi television show for which she also wrote) Boomer and Starbuck as homages to "Buffy," as well as "Torchwood's" Gwen Cooper.

PS I found the article from James Moran's Twitter.
