Hoosier Way
Mar. 23rd, 2012 10:18 pmMy brother was reading this article:
http://www.punchnels.com/first-person/more-hoosier-than-human/
He was shocked by this passage:
Manning embodied many of the same qualities of the Indianapolis citizenry. He was hardworking, humble and unfailingly polite. He wasn’t the flashiest guy in the world, but he was effective and efficient. And if you knocked him down, he would get back up, again and again.
He had discovered what I had. We thought the way we had been raised was unique but it turned out to be the result of our mom being born a Hoosier and her parents being Hoosiers and their parents being Hoosiers and so on and so on until the very beginnings of the state.
Just don't ask her to admit that, hehe.
