November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month. This year, the Epilepsy Foundation is inviting people to share videos about their experiences with it. This is Greg Grunberg whose son has Epilepsy:

300,000 Americans will have their first seizure this year. Epilepsy costs the United States, directly and indirectly, 17.6 billion Dollars! About 40% of those with Epilepsy will die because of it in a direct or indirect manner.

I'd been wanting to see Beasts of the Southern Wild for months so it probably suffered from enhanced expectations.

Now, the main actress, who was only five when she won the role, is amazing and should definitely get an Oscar nomination.

The effects are amazing and there's that fairy tale quality which is always nice, but...

I felt stupid at times. I felt as though things were going on that I wasn't comprehending because on the surface it was about this child coming to terms with big adult ideas but then, there were the beasts and the lessons about global warming and the Katrina imagery... Were there metaphors and symbols all over the place or was it just me?

And now Tom Hiddleston's totally praised it which makes me think even more that there was more it then I understood...

At the same time, it felt like it was lacking something...something indescribable but I wasn't surprised when the credits said that it was once a play.

I'm not sorry at seeing it even though it was at freaking Oldsmar. However, I was very pleased at what I found at the local Oldsmar Marshalls.

I loved The Intouchables. It's one of the best films I've seen all year. My best friend in Hungary talked it up in the spring. Then, I caught a trailer and it looked really good.

Now, it's a movie about a quadriplegic and his live-in caregiver.

I know, it sounds like the beginnings of a tragic, cheesy Lifetime movie but some of it is really, REALLY funny.

Part of the film deals with the care-giver's family although this is not one of those movies where the boss gets all involved and gives him extra money. Still, his boss does want to know why his caregiver is so concerned about a teenage boy.

I heard the old white couple in front of us whisper, "It's his son."

*facepalm*

Yes, because all poor black people have kids when they're like ten...seriously?

The answer is more complicated than that. The great thing is that they're such opposites that the film doesn't depend on simply the race issue or his disability but the cultural differences, the age differences, etc. I really loved how they resolved the caregiver's constant flirting with his boss' secretary. No, it's not what you think...

I will warn you that if you know French that you should probably not read the subtitles. My French is extremely poor. I'm better with Spanish but I noticed some odd translations. I assume they were for our "benefit" like prostitute instead of bitch.

It doesn't happen too often that I loved everyone in this film and wanted to see them succeed and it's all very loosely based on real happenings. The theatre gave us a code to get the book online but neither of us have Nooks or anything...

Speaking of Lifetime, it's November 3 so when are they showing The Road to Christmas??? I realize I should just buy it since it's one of the best Lifetimes movies ever.
