Total Recall and Step Up: Revolution
Nov. 5th, 2012 12:34 amI never saw the first Total Recall but we were bored one day and my mom was on vacation so...
I'm beginning to think The Avengers is the only 2012 film without Bryan Cranston.
I really wanted more explanation on what happened to the rest of the planet and what led to this kind of culture. When we finally did seem to get answers...the movie was nearly over!
It was an exciting, popcorn flick not to think too much about. The visuals were great. I couldn't help thinking how the original effects couldn't possibly live up to this. John Cho looked a lot better as a blond than I thought he would. I just wish he wasn't almost immediately killed. John Cho and Kal Penn are both so hot...Kal Penn is not in this. I just tend to associate them together.
We also saw Step Up: Revolution or as it's known overseas, "Step up 4: Miami Heat" because if they named it that way here, the NBA would sue their ass...although all the guys wear lots of stuff for the Heat, Magic, Marlins and even the Tampa Bay Rays. I loved seeing all the Florida touches.
The best thing about the movie is the idea though...that we still have the ability to transform public sentiment and government through non-violent means...specifically protest in the form of art; dance and other visuals media. It borders on Occupy since they are briefly hijacking public and private spaces for their own use but is is BRIEFLY and aside from one unfortunate incident, no one gets hurt.
I'm a sucker for a dance movie. Then, you add Florida which I love and politics and I really loved this one. It's not Oscar caliber but if I catch it on tv, I'm definitely stopping on it.
