Last Twelve Months

It's been about twelve months since I did my last year meme.

1. What did you do in the last twelve months that you’d never done before?

I had a celebrity reply back to me on Twitter, I saw one movie ten times in the theatre, I ate at the T-Rex Cafe and read all of the original Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions and will you make more for next year?

Oh, it was worse than that. I had all these plans of things to do before turning thirty and I'm not sure I did any of them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes, and I feel awful because she's the next town down from us and I still haven't seen the baby. I can never get her to come her and I can't figure out how to get there. I'm on the verge of using a bus and having her meet me somewhere.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

We weren't close anymore but we were still Facebook friends. We went through all 13 years of school together and I'd been to her house and everything.
Cancer took her in the fall.

5. What places did you visit?

Um...the usual...Orlando, Tampa, etc. I think we did John's Pass the year before last.

6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?

More courage to do new things, the will to make it happen and being able to better push others to do the same.

7. What dates from the last twelve months will remain etched on your memory, and why?

Okay, I'll cheat a bit...May 4 because my mom and I went to the midnight showing of Avengers; then I spent the next twenty hours in fandom bliss, December 16/17 because that was my 30th birthday.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

I joined A03 AND started regularly posting on it! Also, having Clark Gregg reply to me and there's a work thing I'm not at liberty to explain yet.

9. What was your biggest failure?

I still haven't finished that book I started for Nanowrimo in 2011 and I still need to organize the house.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Nope, although I did discover new and exciting allergies. (rolls eyes)

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Hmm, I do like my shiny briefcase with movies, but then I also keep re-reading the Hawkeye graphic novel from March and there's my hot pink denim jacket.

12. Where did most of your money go?
Bills first and foremost, then movies, then books, then Avengers and Doctor Who who basically just take my money now...

13. What did you get really excited about?

AVENGERS! Yes, it came out a little more than twelve months ago but...it still makes me utterly happy. Currently, I'm super excited about Now You See Me. It's Mark Ruffalo with half the cast of Zombieland and half of Christopher Nolan's regulars but they're magicians except I found out it might involve REAL MAGIC like The Sorcerer's Apprentice which I loved to death.

14. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Anyone can be a hero. Everyone should be a hero really in their own way, like Charles Ramsey could have ignored that whole situation but he didn't. He helped her escape. We could be a much better world if we just didn't look the other way all the time.

15. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Ugh, just one?

Okay, the biggest offenders to me are those who claim to love Jesus but worship Ayn Rand who hated Jesus.

16. What song will always remind you of 2012?

"I'm Glad You Came" Because of an awesome fanvid, this song always makes me think of The Avengers.

17. Compared to last year are you –
Happier or Sadder? Happier in some ways and sadder in others.
Fatter or thinner? About the same.
Richer or poorer? Same.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Write, clean and go out, lol.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? I wish I had disciplined myself with Tumblr and Twitter earlier. Now, I only allow myself 15 minutes at a time.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Hmm, how did I spend Christmas?
*goes to check*
I saw Django!

21. What was your favorite TV program(s)?
Doctor Who, Super Hero Squad Show, Elementary, Arrow, Brand X, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Ultimate Spider-Man, Comic Book Men, The Hollow Crown

22. What were your favorite books of the year? Hawkeye, Vol. 1: My Life as a Weapon, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making and 1602

23. What were your favorite films of the year? The Avengers, Ted, Moonrise Kingdom

24. Did you fall in love? With movies and celebrities and ideas and things that are not attainable? Oh yes.

25. What did you do for your birthday in 2012? It was awesome. I went to Downtown Disney twice, saw The Hobbit, ate at the T-Rex cafe and made a fluffy plush Carnotaurus like the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom.

26. Did you make new friends this year? Yep.

27. What did you want and get? I really wanted the briefcase set and I finally was able to justify it.

28. What did you want and not get? Hmm...I wanted congress to finally work with the president which didn't happen. Currently, I really want a Hello Kitty necklace from work but it's 150$ which even with giftcard and 20% off would be crazy expensive. It's Swarovski and goth. I also wanted Coulson to get a proper action figure like Black Widow or Hawkeye that I could purchase at Target or similar mainstream retailers.

29. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Tom Hiddleston hosting Saturday Night Live? Finding my mom a new job?

30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?

I am allowing myself to dress more like a girl without worrying about how everyone else sees me. I still hate the connotations with pink and dresses but I find them fun to wear. I also love my converse that I usually wear with my dresses especially this one pair that's black with neon flowers and hearts.

31. What kept you sane?

Avengers which sounds stupid but it makes me really happy and is a nice almost three hour break from everything.

32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Tom Hiddleston...that's probably obvious.

33. What political issue stirred you the most?

Hmm, it tends to change day by day. I love that more and more states are accepting gay marriage but we're still waging a war on those less fortunate whether they're unemployed, disabled, born to immigrant parents or just happen to be female in a society full of scared males. We're also being controlled by corporations who buy laws and politicians who decided that they refuse to work with the President on anything.

34. Who did you miss?

I miss Hatter in Once Upon a Time because it feels like it's been forever, I miss Iron Man: Armored Adventures because it's awesome but last I heard, it was canceled and I miss Lotso who you can't even meet at Disney anymore but he's the best hugger of all, even better than Sully or Eeyore.

35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in the last twelve months.

If you organize enough people, anything can happen...including bringing people back from the dead.
