Back to the Future Part 3
Oct. 22nd, 2015 12:34 amMy mom tried to come up with something fun to commemorate the day. We ended up going to the library to their book sale because libraries still exist in the future, woo!
Ever see Robot and Frank? You should totally see that one.
Anyway, we bought 5 books for a dollar, including the novelization of the 2004 Punisher film and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter...I still want to read the sequel, too.
It was a little disappointing to miss out on the special theatre showings but aside from the first film...because bringing a toddler to Back to the Future seemed like a horrible idea but bringing a three year old to Top Gun? BRILLIANT! Actually, it really was...I had no interest in any Jerry Bruckheimer films until Pirates of the Caribbean almost twenty years later...so yeah, I saw Back to the Future, Part II and Part III in the theatre.
Part II came out when I was almost seven but I have much better memories of seeing Part III when I was almost seven and a half...oh yes, only six months apart, take that Marvel and everyone else!
Part III was at the old theatre in town which was the only theatre in town at that point and to this day, it still has a metal roof. Have you been in a building with a metal roof?

Lol, it was kind of awful but I still loved it. Part III was always my favorite and led to arguments with my brother who preferred Part II. Except for hoverboards and Elijah Wood (who became one of my first crushes in 1993), I found Part II kind of boring whereas Part III had cowboys and science and horses and fun stuff...I just realized that The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr was all my favorite stuff from Back to the Future III made into a television show, no wonder I loved it so much.
Still, the point remains that the film was a huge part of childhood for a lot of us and now even the future scenes have become the past...which is both exciting for getting to see it, disappointing for what we didn't get and sad that our experience will never happen again. No future child will watch the films and be able to marvel at what 2015 will really be like.
