There was an awesome person on Tumblr that alerted me to an interview with Greg Rucka about Shattered Empire:

“There’s a backstory that I don’t actually ever see getting into the issues, and as it stands now, this is subject to change,” he says. “In my head, they joined after the victory at Yavin, and they joined after the victory at Yavin for a very specific reason. They had a cargo service that they ran and they had a newborn. They were like, ‘Well, what’s the future for our child going to be?'” Even if this origin is not set in stone, it represents an emotional core. Shara and Kes have something to fight for.

Now I love Greg Rucka. I am hunting down all his stuff. I own every Black Magick issue to date. I'm even adding a biweekly comic because he's writing it!!

However, I do kind of want this to change...

On one hand, I understand how Poe changed their lives completely and it wasn't just about them anymore...

But on the other hand, I haven't met a mother who would leave "a newborn" to go join the army. Shara even describes Poe as "I've got a son I've barely seen since he was born" which is like...what happened? He turned two weeks old and you guys left him with your dad?

Or maybe it's just because my headcanon had him born DURING their time with the Rebellion...it's not like she's going to have regular access to birth control, right? Or it would be very easy to forget especially since she says how she gets to see Kes "an hour at a time every couple of weeks IF we're lucky." Now since, it is just an hour...we basically know how most of that hour will be spent...and the issues definitely confirm that.

But Okay, Shara and Kes had Poe first and Poe was 2 at the Battle of Yavin which means anywhere from 23 months to 2 years 11 months...because his age is never specified in Shattered Empire, only that he was 32 in Episode 7.
*I used to be told that Jedi was six months after Empire, now everything says 1 year...

9 years before Battle of Endor -Star Wars: Rebels
7 years before Battle of Endor -Star Wars: Han Solo
5 years before Battle of Endor -Star Wars: Rogue One
4 years before Battle of Endor -Star Wars: A New Hope
1 Year before Battle of Endor -Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

I think you can see my problem with the timeline. NOTHING happens between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back! I wanted the possibility of seeing them in Rebels or Rogue One and now there's nothing.

I'm tired of people not knowing who Poe's parents are.
