Sorry to Bother You
Sep. 13th, 2018 12:47 amI was super excited for this movie. It has such a great cast and the premise seemed interesting.
And it does have all that, including stuff to make you think about how much is just fiction and how much could come true tomorrow...like the Amazon-like company in the film is able to re-institute slavery/sweatshops by introducing a model where people sign a contract for guaranteed job, meals and board FOR LIFE!
We all know people who would be that desperate that they would do that.
The social justice points are all great. I LOVE Tessa Thompson...I may have to admit that I would love her in anything.
Here's the problem...
The movie ended up being that Saturday Night Live skit that starts off really great but doesn't know how to end so it ends up going long and veering off into a really weird place that kinds of ruins it.
The "Not Amazon" slaves have started rebelling and they aren't as productive as hoped so the company comes up with a new idea...
Turning people into horses.
Seriously, that's how it ends with some of the characters turned into horses and viciously assaulting "Not Jeff Bezos"
So, ultimately, it leaves this kind of weird aftertaste.
