Leatherbound Classics
Apr. 26th, 2011 11:15 amAll my life, there has always been that allure of the leather-bound classic novel. They even used to have ads on tv and it was the pinnacle of success to be able to have them. They were the ultimate in literature: Jane Eyre, Emma, A Tale of Two Cities, The Complete Works of Shakespeare, etc.
So, recently, I went to Barnes and Noble and found that tradition has continued with...
Jurassic Park?
Now, I love that book. I used to collect different editions so I'll definitely buy this one someday because it's so pretty, but...it feels weird and...it makes me feel a little old. How can Jurassic Park be a classic when I'm older than it? Is it just because Michael Crichton's dead?

Date: 2011-04-26 03:59 pm (UTC)I agree with the commenter above me: it's a modern classic, I guess. It definitely would seem to be a classic in terms of the scifi genre. Still, it's weird to think that something like the Da Vinci Code could be part of this series in 15 years time. It's just odd, lol.

That's too funny!!!
I specifically remember buying Jurasssic Park at a Waldensbooks (back when they still had Waldenbooks) because I got "in trouble" for...

"This bookstore is not a library, after all."

I'll never forget the DH release party there, that's for sure. The party was amazing and because I got the limited edition, they made me go through this whole "cloak & dagger" secret spy superfan odyssey to get it. Soo much fun.
Good to know about Waldens. Maybe, like Sonic etc., they just don't have them here.
