Yellow Journalism at its Absolute WORST!

Now, I've done my share of journalism, detective work and just plain being where I shouldn't be but NEVER, NEVER would it have crossed my mind to hack into the cellphones of missing girls!

Not only did these reporters allegedly hack into one girl's phone but they deleted messages which gave police and family the false hope that she was still alive!

It doesn't stop there though. It seems like every time I heard about it, something new has happened, but I've only heard about it on Bloomberg TV and CNBC World, have you guys seen anything on MSNBC or Fox or anything else?

Anyway, they also hacked into celebrities phones and victims of the 2005 7/7 bombing...and the latest disgusting allegation...possibly the phones of dead soldiers' families...the hacked phones might number as many as 7,000.

The newspaper is News of the World, owned by NewsCorp. Rupert Murdoch said the allegations were "deplorable and unacceptable." However, the Guardian reported earlier this year that Murdoch tried to pressure Gordon Brown when he was Prime Minister into not investigating the allegations. News of the World is losing advertisers by the second and the stock price for NewsCorp fell 5% yesterday.

Several editors of the paper claim not to have known what was going on...
Really? You just thought your reporters were THAT good at finding things out?
If that's true, I have to rethink my assumptions about Jonah Jameson and Perry White being so incredibly unobservant about their employees.

I will be very surprised if anything shows up on Fox about this.

The News International Evil Empire has to stick together, I suppose.

(Rebekah Brooks' latest excuse is "I was on holiday at the time, therefore it's not my fault". I really would like to punch that woman in the face right now.)

It is totally disgusting. Not surprised it's not showing up on Fox since that's a Murdoch owned source as well, isn't it? It was on NBC nightly news last night but I've mainly followed it online.

I haven't watched the news at all so I don't know anything about it.

People in the news do all kinds of stupid things in the name of stories. I hate reporters to the degree that I've kind of stopped watching/reading/keeping up on current events, simply because none of them can do it honestly.

Isn't it funny how Murdoch is so ashast---like he didn't order it or create an environment where it was ordered. *eyeroll* It's utterly horrible but if it finally brings his publishing empire down, then it may have been worth it. We'll see. It's about time that laws finally nailed the 'media's' foot to the floor, as it were. *G*

Well, the latest is that the News of the World has now shut itself down. Seems like the only option considering the situation.

Ooh, on DirectTv, Current is 358, 359 Fox Business and 360 is Fox News.

I have to admit, I haven't watched Current yet since its "rebirth" or whatever. I was annoyed with it for a while. As much as I love Ewan McGregor on a motorcycle and some of the other things they showed, I was very annoyed that it wasn't like it used to be when it first started. I loved it then. It was one of my favorite channels. I remember writing the channel number down for my mom like, this thing is awesome! It was like a better version of Youtube. It was all viewer generated content where they told about their lives and what was going on and different interesting things like new ways of making artwork and being a fashion designer in Iran and being an immigrant in England.

Then, they started having more and more shows and programs and stuff like all the other stations have...they lost that uniqueness...

Yeah and I'd do the happy chicken dance (if only the Sun would go down as well...), but it's bloody unfair that they've sacked dozens (if not hundreds) of employees while Rebekah Brooks faces no repercussions.
