Technically, the very first chapter of Year One happens on November 1, 1981. Lily and James died October 31, 1981 so the book actually takes place afterwards.
Well, De Cape et de Crocs is a french comic book by Ayroles (writer) and Masbou (artist). The story is set in the 17th century but it's a fantasy world where humans and talking animals live together. The main characters are a spanish wolf, Don Lope de Villalobos y Sangrin, and a french fox, Armand Raynal de Maupertuis. They have a lot of adventures (they find a treasure map, fight against pirates, they sail abord the Flying Dutchman, they eventually go to the moon...).
The title means "Cloak and Fangs", a nod to "Cloak and Swords" (De cape et d'épées) which is the term we used in french to define swachbuckling movies or books.
It's very funny with a lot of references to french literary classics (Cyrano de Bergerac, Molière, La Fontaine...) and to modern culture too (Alien, Sergio Leone...).
Unfortunately there isn't an english translation yet and it's very hard to translate because there is a lot of jokes and sometimes the dialogues are written in alexandrines. The website is in french but you can see a lot of illustrations there: http://www.decape.askell.com/

Thus, only one actual death in Book One.
