So, Torchwood...

First of all, I was very much reminded of Steve Taylor complaining about BBC conspiring to make sure the sex scene was always on just as his dad was checking in on him. Only in my case, it was BBC AND Starz making sure that Jack was in the throes of passion every time my mom glanced at the screen to see what was going on.
*facepalm*
I had to explain how Starz was looser with nudity and sex than BBC so there was a lot more than when it was on before. However, it was nice to see Jack as seducer rather than just flirt or seducee.
I also liked the inclusion of the alien that killed Katie and more background on it although it pose more questions. Did someone deliberately expose her or was it just a terrible accident?
However, I always tend to get annoyed when Rusty has religion. I know it's Jane's episode so it could also be her fault since the last Catholic bashing was on her watch, too. Honestly, it's not just Catholicism though. I can't think of a single person of faith during Torchwood's entire run that has been seen in a positive light, can you?
There is Ianto who definitely has a background with the Christian church. He found that passage too easily otherwise and there was talk of his having dialogue about faith or his questioning it except they were cut.
Now, in this series, we have the Catholic doctor, Angelo and others who come off nuts at best and severely warped at worst. I acknowledge that religion has caused a lot of problems but there have also been a lot of good people of faith.
I can't help comparing it with the Whedonverse. The Whedonverse doesn't adhere to a specific religion but it acknowledges a mysterious Powers That Be that could be fate or could be a body of supernatural beings...we don't know. There are also other parallel and alternate universes so a person could go there and think it's Heaven or the Elysium Fields or there could be an actual beyond where "death is your gift". It felt like having some sort of faith or belief even if it wasn't specific opened up the shows to have richer storylines which I really miss in contrast to Rusty's universe of Torchwood, Doctor Who and Sarah Jane where they insist that nothing is out there except darkness and the closest we have to an all-knowing being would be the Doctor.
I'm also getting really sick or the Doctor also doubling as Jesus or now where we have Jack fill that role. It just feels very mocking or judgmental when Rusty has religious iconography in his shows.
I also really hated what Gwen said about her former coworkers at first but now I'm really to let it go as survivor's guilt and she's just really fucked up...basically become Jack to an extent.
I've decided not to even think about which Jack we see in 1927 because the first time I watched, I thought for sure that it was a post-COE Jack, then the internet said Exit Wounds but when I watched again, it also had a lot of hints for it being the slow Jack...there's just too much fail there to be sure. Dammit, Jane, I thought you were an obsessive fangirl like the rest of us...
No, Gwen, even if he has known you three or four years, your boss shouldn't be faulted for not knowing your mom's name...even if he did retcon her. Besides, you didn't even know Ianto had a sister...
Jack: I love weddings.
Captain Jack Sparrow (suddenly appears): I love weddings, drinks all around!
(Both Jacks make out)

Jack: My wriststrap is in tune with me. WE could use it to find Anwen...
(Oh crap, she's not Rhys' after all...)
Jack: We could tune it to you and it could use you to find her.

Also, the whole let's stab Jack and collect his blood and torture him over and over...really, really, really, really, really horrible to watch, like killing own grandson horrible to watch, since Jack doesn't just die, Jack dies over and over and over and it doesn't take much imagination to think how the Master did something similar no doubt.
