So, I've been having some quandaries lately about the American Cancer Society. Last year, I supported Relay for Life and everyone's fundraising efforts.

This year, I keep hearing troubling things about not accepting donations, about the bill they helped kill and the fact that their CEO makes $1,045,887 a year

Seriously? Is seven figures really that necessary? The freaking president of the whole country is only paid $400,000 a year. Shouldn't that money be going to help people?

Now, the American Heart Association did release their reasons for helping to kill the bill:

I can understand some of it, but why not help with rewriting the bill or creating additional riders to it rather than just killing it altogether?

Yeah, this is largely why I stopped donating to charities, all of the charity shops in the UK are run by volunteers, so that's all good, but they all have managers, and senior managers, and executives, who are all on massive massive salaries, that they're taking out of the charitable donations, and it's just... they say they need to pay that much to attract 'the best people' to the job. But I think that's just bullshit.
