Avengers Again

Yep, I saw The Avengers again!
Damn, that's a freaking awesome movie.
My Oldest Brother: That is one of the best movies I've ever seen...
Not only did I go with my mom again, but all three nephews and the younger of my two brothers.
So many feelings, So many Pheelings
I know that the first time I went that I was suffering from Holy Shit, I'm watching freaking AVENGERS, FREAKING AVENGERS and it's TWO IN THE MORNING< HOLY SHIT!!!!!!! but damn, I missed/forgot so much...
Coulson is the first person where we see his face; not Loki, not Nick, not Maria but Phil...pretty freaking cool.
JOINT DARK ENERGY RESEARCH...and then someone's body was in the way...
Wow, what happened to Loki out in space? Or is it just an after effect of traveling like that?
First of all, and I noticed this before, he looks really bad, red eyes, clammy, etc. Then, this time I was struck by how he kicks everyone's ass but acts immediately tired and drained. Watch the difference between how he walks on base and in Germany. His getting in the back worked out well from a defence standpoint but his demeanor comes off more like, I'm too tired to open the door, I'll just climb up here. Even Clint has to help him walk.
I still think the third agent guy he possessed must be Galaga boy. I just wish there was more resolution with that, or someone else would either confirm or explain things better to me.
The way Nick Fury talked about being in a firefight and being a soldier made me wonder if movie universe did in fact share the comic book origins of Coulson and Fury being soldiers together.
Also, Jenny Agutter...I can't see you and not think of Coupling. It's just impossible.
Pepper was at least dressing up her Daisy Dukes with a belt...
Oh, Joss Whedon, how I love you and it works so much better when the director is so deeply involved with the script.
When Bruce talks about how not everyone gets what they want, he's touching the baby cradle and it just...
(hugs Bruce)
Loki still cares about Thor. I know he acts like doesn't. He fought him and all, but he does because Whedon showed him so extremely gleeful about Thor kicking Tony's ass. Then, when the tides were turned, no more Loki reaction shots...
I understood this time how Loki's staff was really fueling the fires of dischord in that room. However, that still makes me wonder more...is it safely locked up in Shield's vault or what?
Now, middle nephew had quite a few things to say. He's not a good viewer. Oldest nephew shushed him twice and gave him the death glare once. Ever five to ten minutes, middle nephew would repeat lines from the screen, everything from "Puny god" to "so, that's what it does."
"Yay, he's destroying stuff!" (Tony)
"Woah!"
"Yay, destroying stuff!" (Hulk)
"How did he get out?"
"But why did he call Coulson an eye? He's a person."
There was one point where oldest nephew was so infuriated that I started laughing. Middle nephew also didn't want his candy from his snack pack so I got it because sour gummy worms are AWESOME.
Oh gosh, I was drained, in denial, crying, that first time that it didn't dawn on me when Steve and Tony were talking exactly where they were...
This time, it did and then Tony was looking at Phil's blood on the wall and damn...
*crying again*
He's a good liar but Fury really was acting like he'd lost his best/oldest friend and the way he was looking at the cards.
damn
Even as brother and I explained to oldest nephew, when we mentioned how Bucky could still be in a modern Captain America film, "No one but Uncle Ben actually dies in a Marvel comic", it's still...I don't know, complicated.
I guess he did say "was".
*sniffle*
The arc reactor confused me. Normally, you can see it through his shirt but not in the Loki parts and then it wasn't glowing when he tumbled since he used up all the power but somehow, he was just unconcious and the Hulk scared him back?
Umm, what?
Yeah, I definitely think that was an, OH SHIT, look from Loki when Thor was talking with him. He immediately tried to turn the situation but still, I think Phil was right. Loki lacks conviction when it really comes down to it.
I see what you did there, Joss. Tony says he hopes no one kissed him and you IMMEDIATELY cut to Steve for his reaction.
Really?
I'm still annoyed that Erik was able to build a failsafe while possessed and Barton was completely gone and what that means for his character.
You can see the outside of the Shawarma restaurant earlier in the film. It's right beside the Farmer's Insurance ad. I think I've decided to pretend he's tied up.
Oldest Nephew: I think I'll have that drink now. Do you think he got it?
Me: I don't know. He didn't even get to eat with them...
Random nephew: Captain America looked like he was going to sleep.
Me: Yeah, he needed a nap.
Random nephew: Yeah, cuz he's old. Tony should have teased him about getting him some prunes or pudding.
Pepper is wearing shoes at the end. They're just beige flats.
Oldest Nephew: Who's that?
Me: Thanos
Oldest Nephew: Who's he?
Me: He's totally in love with Death and wants to marry it.
Oldest Nephew: So, Death's a woman then?
Astute but still, we'll work on that gender assumption...
I'm watching Smash
Mom: Is that Bernadette Peters? (shocked) She HASN'T aged!
Damn, that's a freaking awesome movie.

I think it was too, but you're right, they kinda left that bit hanging.

Ha ha, that's great! It's a lot more amusing than the actual explanation of how the prosthetic Chris Evans had to wear to cover up his beard was uncomfortable.

It's in the Warehouse, obvs. :D
I'm so pissed at myself for forgetting to stay through the credits. I caught the first stinger but not the shawarma bit, and I can't find it online. Clearly I will have to see it again. For science. (And I bet they brought back a sammich for Loki. To go with his drink.)

Ah yes, we probably do need someone to make that crossover eventually...

Aww, this is a lot more preferable to...he's tied up behind Thor so we can't see him.

Date: 2012-05-15 09:22 pm (UTC)Loki's probably tied up near the bar; they made him an enormous strawberry daiquiri and then put a straw in it so he could drink it hands-free. Also a cocktail umbrella. Because.
