The Lost World: Jurassic Park
May. 23rd, 2012 11:42 pmAs I posted the Tom Hiddleston clip about Jurassic Park, something nagged at me about today's date. I finally remembered...
It was exactly fifteen years ago on May 23, 1997 that The Lost World: Jurassic Park came out!
Unlike some, I LOVED it. I also loved the book. The book delved into theoretical animal behaviour and general awesomeness. The movie had one of the most hilarious endings ever. It also has an awesome, awesome cast: Julianne Moore, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Schiff, Vince Vaughn, Pete Postlewaite...

Date: 2012-05-24 10:56 am (UTC)Also, JP2 is what gave me my lifelong love of Julianne Moore. And of COURSE I appreciated ANY movie that was going to make Ian Malcolm its main character. OH _MAN_ NOW ALL I WANT TO DO IS WATCH ALL THE JP MOVIES RIGHT NOW. _BLASTED_ WORK ... ;-)
Also: Wait, Tom Hiddleston was in Jurassic Park?? Or was he just talking about it or something?!

Date: 2012-05-24 12:14 pm (UTC)Okay, rant over :P, back to The Lost World :]. It wasn't as awe-inducing as the first film, but I still liked it a lot :). My favorite scenes would have to be these—
-The pack of Raptors ambushing Pete Postelthwaite's character & his men. I found his character to be a really nasty bastard, so it was nice to see him get his come-uppance, even though it didn't outright kill him (at least I don't think it did).
-The paleontologists, Dr. Malcolm, et al taking care of the baby T-Rex's broken leg, because honestly, how cool would it be to get so up close & personal with something like that, and take care of an injury it received to boot =)? The close encounter with Mommy & Daddy dearest that followed wasn't exactly fun or something I'd like to happen to me, but it was thrilling, and provided the intriguing idea that every dinosaur species, even one as vicious as the T-Rex, invested a lot into taking care of their babies.
-The T-Rex (and, if I remember correctly, son/daughter) rampaging through New York, Los Angeles, or wherever that was. A great way to end a great film, and how can you not like an homage to something that is as much a part of modern culture as Godzilla :)?

It's so weird to think how Jon Favreau wuld later go on to direct two blockbuster films about Iron Man.
