Before the first Madagascar came out, we were so EXCITED! There was Chris Rock and Ben Stiller and PENGUINS! PENGUINS!
How we loved those Penguins so!
Then, we saw the movie and ended up hating everyone but the Penguins. They had a subplot about one character wanting to EAT the other one! I realize that is probably realistic but it was really, REALLY DISTURBING!
Plus, the Penguins were like BARELY in it!
When the second came out, it was like, NO, not falling for that again. Also, they came out with the Penguins show, all the characters we liked and none of the ones we didn't.
So, there's our thing. You as you said "thoroughly enjoyed the first one" and we borderline hated it.
