I have no Viacom channels right now. Viacom and DirectTv came to an impasse. Both want me to call the other and complain.

I don't actually care. There's nothing I want to watch. If it isn't resolved by Monday, I'll be a little annoyed but I can catch most of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report online.

It's even been suggested that we'll get a rebate or refund for the missing channels. That's one of the things I like about DirectTv. They do prize loyalty and reward us accordingly. This is also why I'm more willing to take their side than Viacom who sued Youtube.

I'm telling you, I'm about ready to take this DVR box and chuck it out the window! I just had to reboot it, a WHOLE WEEK after it last did it!!!! *growls and tears hair out*

Believe me, I would LOVE to have BBCA, but at this rate we can barely afford to pay for Starz. I would've been happy to let it go after Torchwood: Miracle Day ended, but now we've gotten hooked on Spartacus. *heh*

So, after 6 and a half years, this is what our DirectTv bill looks like...

Choice XTRA package $68.99

I ended up upgrading because I wanted Logo, The Hub, Boomerang, Ovation, etc...

Starz Monthly $12.99
Protection Plan $5.99
DVR Fee $8
Additional TV $6

I'm not sure what you're paying now. I just know in this entire time, we've never had to have a repairman come out and fix something and I'm not rebooting my DVR once a week.

I got Starz for the Disney stuff, lol They didn't even have original programming back then. Torchwood was just a nice bonus.

We've since had our issues worked out, and we've gotten a new DVR that works fine (after three tries). Thing is, since we're in the boonies and don't have a HD TV yet, the company gives us re-furbished equipment, and it turns out to be a crap shoot when you swap out a box. We now have a box that works just fine, and I suppose we'll upgrade the equipment once we get an HD TV.

Mom pays almost a $100 a month, and that includes Starz (which is $10 an month). It also includes a digital package, the DVR, and all sorts of fees (that I think they just tack on because they want to). Since we had all those DVR issues, we're getting free HBO for the next three months, and the last bill was credited $20. Mom's planning to call them and see if she can get the price lowered; they're willing to deal since they don't want her to take her business elsewhere.
