Okay, now I know that you know how I tend to be a little bit...obsessed when it comes to The Avengers...

and I did just watch it again two days ago but...

I can't be the only one who thought of it during Skyfall, right?

Like keeping the villain in a glass cage when they WANT to be there?

Their very own Coulson?

Having your own theme music when arriving for an attack?

And a few other things I won't say...

You're not the only one.
Every time they mentioned something along the lines of "old dog, new tricks." or "the old ways are the best" - I just thought back to Fury's line, "it's an old-fashioned notion."

Not to mention Mallory & James seemed to have a Tony/Steve dynamic going on with one of them being a stickler for protocol & the other doing pretty much whatever he damn well pleases.

Also Silva's whole thing with "Think on your Sins." & his weird obsession with 'M' as mommy seemed to parallel Loki & his "An Ant has no quarrel with a boot." speech. Plus, Odin & 'M' ( re: 'Emma' ) both had a penchant for screwing over their charges without much regret & rationalizing it as the 'only option'.

The villain-in-a-cage actually reminded me more of, uh, X2? The one where they had Magneto in the supposedly-metal-free cage. But other parts of it, amusingly yes. :)

Heh. I haven't seen the Avengers movie, or heard anything about it that made me feel like I'm missing much. However, given that the Bond movie franchise-- just the movies alone--are 50 years old this year, I have no problem believing The Avengers movie was plenty influenced by Bond. While no matter what some people say--the original movie blockbuster wasn't a Bond film, lots of action movies since the franchise was launched have been guided by the James Bond model. Course the last I heard Gone With the Wind still holds the all time highest box office gross when adjusted for inflation. 8-)

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. When Q said that Silva planned the whole thing, I literally thought, "Exactly like Loki." Except Loki has better hair. But that's really the only thing that screamed Avengers to me, though I'm sure the other similarities are there.
