Okay, I went to Now You See Me with expectations just shy of The Avengers and they were MET!

This is an awesome movie!

It has an awesome cast, awesome script, and an original story.

If you like movies where you have to think while watching: who's playing who, who's really who, what's going to happen next?

If you like movies you will able to watch multiple times and still enjoy it because of trying to figure out what's going on once again with new information...

GO SEE THIS FILM!!!!!!

I will post more at a later date. Some will want to see it while knowing nothing. I knew almost everything and still second and third and fourth guessed myself throughout...

(Sighs in contentment)

Will probably wait until this comes out on video but it does look good. Despite the fact that I get all fangirly about MCU/DC movies, and upcoming stuff like Catching Fire and Ender's Game that are book adaptations, I feel like Hollywood uses the adaptation-remake-reboot-sequel crutch way too often. I mean, look at the current top 6:

Fast & Furious 6 - Sequel
The Hangover Part III - Sequel
Star Trek Into Darkness - Reboot
Epic - Original (AFAIK)
Iron Man 3 - Sequel
The Great Gatsby - Adaptation/Remake

Yeah, After Earth is an original story as well but I feel like I might have liked that more if they had stayed with the original idea of bonding after a crash in a remote location on present-day Earth?

I'm really picky with my SciFi...too much of it just seems derivative of everything else.

Oh, was that the original plan? I saw the commercials for that, didn't do anything for me. I think I have CGI-animal fatigue (yes this is a thing).

I think I tend to have CGI fatigue in general and that's why I can't be more excited about things like Man of Steel...

Part of why I wasn't able to get my mom to go to the film today was "but they make all that stuff up with computers, it's not real".

I'm looking forward to Man of Steel but not excited, per se. But then again, my dad had to talk me into going to see Avengers, and you see what happened there ;)

Oh, thanks so much for this! I was on the fence about it: I figured it would either be great or awful. I'm delighted to hear it's so good. I'll have to check it out!

Thanks - good to know it's worth a look, and not just because Mark Ruffalo yum.
