F-List Cut and Merlin and...

Every year, I go through every single Friend and Community and decide whether to cut them. Usually, if we're mutual friends, I leave them alone.

This year, I got a little ruthless. I cut 380 people and communities. Most of them were people who hadn't posted in years. They were people I met in college or through Pirates of the Caribbean or Torchwood and now they're not around anymore.

I still feel kind of bad about it.

Maybe I was a little too ruthless. I deleted anything that LJ said hadn't done anything in 2013 according to their profile page.

I also want to say to be careful about what you put on your Profile page. You can put your AIM and things but you don't have to. If you DO, do NOT be surprised when people Message you. Some people are cool and some people act like I broke into their house. When you put your stuff on your profile, that's basically like giving your home address to the guy who just tried to kill your bodyguard, ANYONE CAN USE IT.

As I was doing the cut last night, I was watching Merlin. I was half-paying attention to both tasks when my mom asked, "Is that what they look like in real life?" It happened to be a header of Colin Morgan and Bradley James.

I have to say as I watched, it began to resemble a Russell T. Davies script. This character dies and this character dies and this plotline is resolved hastily and that plotline is resolved hastily but by the end, I did like the inclusion of The Once and Future King.

My Mom: Well, did they all live happily ever after or did they all die?
Me: They all died...well...Gwen did become queen and Merlin lived forever. They showed him and he was old Merlin with the beard and everything. Then, a car passed him.

My mom smiled and laughed. I think she approved.

I'm trying to ignore the Doctor Who news. If I ignore it, then it doesn't exist and there's no reason for me to be crying...although the crying is a good distraction from the flash flood forming in the yard or the water coming in from the patio doors...

I think it's fair to cut people and comms that haven't been active for over 6 months. I think it's more than fair, actually!

I think with LJ if someone hasn't posted in years then it's fair to say they've either moved to another platform or they've moved away from online altogether.

Oh, thank you! I still see we are mutual friends on my profile page. I know we don't talk much. Sorry, I think we mostly talked about Torchwood. I keep getting new interests. If you ever cut me I would understand. I still love Torchwood though, just sad that it ended and that Ianto died along with Owen and Tosh. I watched Miracle Day, loved Jack and even bad-ass Gwen who I usually don't like that much anymore. If they do another one, not likely I will be interested, but who knows. I am big into the superheroes. I think you are too. Anyway blabbering on... :)

Oh, Merlin... I have so many feels about that show, but mostly what I feel is all the wasted potential and mishandled characters/storylines.

I thought the ending of Merlin was interesting. Surprising, yes (I didn't expect them to completely stick to the "Arthur is killed by Mordred in battle" part of the legend— I thought they'd have Arthur, Morgana, and Mordred survive the battle whose beginning we saw at the end of last week's episode, then do a "Many years later" thing in which Arthur was the aging king most of the versions of that part of the legend have him as, Merlin was a wizened old man, Mordred was a proper adult, e.g. a man in his late twenties or early thirties, & Morgana was an aged sorceress, and they'd all meet once more in a battle that ultimately leaves Morgana & Merlin as the last ones standing), but interesting. I liked the "Once And Future King" thing, too, as well as the way they sort of linked the legend to actual British royal history— the "The King is dead, long live the Queen" pronouncement that knight (or was it Gaius?) made. It seemed to me that they were implying that the child or children Guinevere presumably had not long after Arthur's death was/were the ancestor(s) of the British royal family, which is a rather cool thought :].

I have to briefly touch on the DW news that shall be ignored, just because I need to share my feelings about it with someone. I'll just say that I'm sad Matt Smith is leaving, but I'm not entirely surprised to hear it. I figured he'd stay in the role through the whole of next season, but not much longer than that. Still, I'll miss him— he is/was a really great Doctor :(.

I am so sad about Matt Smith leaving! I realize he's been on for 4 years but it seems so short. :( Eleven is my Doctor so I am so bummed.

I've been meaning to watch Merlin! It seems like something I'd really like. n_n

As for Merlin, I loved that ending. Too funny and a great way to open a tv movie if they get one *fingers crosses*

If it continues, the show will be over unless they rewrite canon again concerning how many regenerations a Time Lord can have... >.<
